I thought he was back to good form against the Crows last week but just had a couple of horrible brain fades in the last quarter. He wasn't the Lone Ranger there.

I thought last night he was fantastic. He was very clean by foot all night.

He had one really horrible turn over. I don't think he should play back pocket. He's a bit loose defensively because he loses his man hunting the ball. He lacks a touch of pace compared to the good forward pockets. And he has some real shockers when kicking short out of defence.

I'm starting to agree with others he'd be better off a wing. He's starting to get some possession numbers to justify it. His short kicks are less dangerous if they don't work out; and more profitable when they do. He does have the guts to try and nail a tricky pass! His hardness would be really valueable there too. Wing seems to fit his attributes a bit better.

Absolutely, I think he can be a real weapon forward of centre and using his physicality through the middle. He plays best when he has some freedom, down back he tends to turn the ball over too much by either over thinking it or tying to hit tough passes.

In general he had a great game the other night. He is a real bull at the football, and most of the time his kicking is a real weapon.

The obvious problem is that his howlers are just terrible. Some of the worst turnover I've seen. And they always result in a score to the opposition. When you also have Taylor Adams in your side, you can't really afford to have another guy who is so prone to the howler.

I'm still very buoyed by what I've seen from Maynard this year, but I definitely think he is either a higher half back flanker or wingmen.

Shame Sinclair, Ramsay and Varcoe aren't locked into the team to release him to that high HB/wing role.

Apart from Witts, none of those that left last year are really doing that much.
So no real pain there but if even if we had gotten higher picks doubt that Allen would have done anything in trades.

Your kidding Williams has been a gun for North. They absolutely love him over there.

While others would disagree I've always been of the belief that it's harder for most young players in there first couple of seasons to find self belief and confidence at AFL level playing in defence.

Whether it be because they're so worried about concentrating on there opponent they neglect there own, lose confidence by having a bag kicked on them or making a mistake that directly results in an opposition goal there form can quickly diminish as self doubts move in.

Personally I'd love to see Maynard unshackled from the burden of being a defender in our side for a few weeks and given a role across half forward with some stints in the midfield to see what he can produce in a different position.

I'd like to see what he can do with some freedom and weight of responsibility lifted from those shoulders and for our coach to think outside the square and mix things up.

Hell he take Blair's position!

I liked the sound of Maynard from the time I read his draft bio and all I've seen so far is a kid slowly developing his game with the positives that were always present now outweighing the negatives by an increasing margin.

It's called experience and growth and he's going to be a bloody beauty.

It's time that Maynard is given an opportunity through the midfield.

He's done it successfully at TAC level and for mine he looks like a player wanting to take on a new challenge and evolve his game.

He's improving all the time, doesn't take a backwards step when it's his turn to go and looks fit enough for the role now.

Having Maynard and de Goey together around the stoppages, in the centre square ball ups and across half forward would add some physical size and hurt factor in terms of skill set to a midfield that needs a freshen up.

I wouldn't mind seeing a few positional changes.

I've been wondering of late whether Greenwood could be turned into a defensive stopper earmarked to play on the oppositions best small forward.

It's an area we need more options in and Greenwood knows how to play tight and remain focused with his history of tagging.

I'd love to see Maynard moved further afield and given time in the midfield and across half forward.

He looks like a player ready to take the next step in his development and partnered with de Goey or Wills would provide us with some real bite around the stoppages.

Grundy if he can become a forward threat would take his game to a whole new level.

Hard to do I know when you spend so much time as the No.1 ruck so I'd like to see us make a conscious decision to give more ruck opportunity to Moore or bring in Cox as our first ruck option for a period with Grundy playing the role Cox currently occupies.

Maynard the midfielder?

Never in doubt.;)

Pity it's taken to the last round for his opportunity to come.

Next season our midfield needs to be built around Pendlebury, Treloar, Adams, Sidebottom, de Goey and Maynard.

Has to stay in the midfield now, showed in the first half how good he can be

Top 10 Finish in the Copeland was very Impressive.

Reckon he can become a Very Good Footballer
Too right. Kid has a bit of mongrel too. Like much.

200 gamer for sure, is his brother any good? Can we get him too? I love watching #Bruzzy tackle, he usually gives it a little extra and makes sure it hurts. :p

That's the best game he's played this year by miles and one of his best ever. I hope he can keep that up.

He's obviously fit as his extended break due to injury didn't seem to affect him (apart from the last 10 mins when the whole team ground to a halt).

Agree, fantastic game.

20 kicks, 9 marks, 8 tackles and his goal combining for a monstrous 144 fantasy points show he wasn't lacking touch after his extended absence, and most importantly he was throwing his weight around all game which we love to see, stamping his physicality on the contest and making the opposition hurt.
