Why did I have to go to page 3 to find this guys thread ? Seriously he deserves more love and attention than some of those other guys who either continue to disappoint or tease. Gone are the 2-3 blunders per game, the turn overs and the brain explosions. In is the serious attack on ball and man, the long raking left foot and glory be, I even reckon he kicks on his right these days... He deserves more kudos than is currently coming his way..

Agreed Brayden has lifted himself in areas that were a concern and has turned himself into a legit best 22.

Kids a psycopath.
His attack on the man and the ball scares me and I'm watching it on TV 15000 kms away.
Be scared.

Be very scared.

So
Much better than say Marley Williams who was and is a ball butcher.

Maynard is really becoming integral to our play- he’s a beast.

(We are gaining a wonderful barn of beasts. Maynard, Sier, some guy named De Goey, a “nasty” * beast Greenwood.)

* nasty in a good controlled way.

His hands are brilliant. The number of times he has gathered an errant handpass or bouncing pill with a glorious sure handed grab and turned danger into an attacking move has left me breathless this season. I love him.

Thank god he’s learnt to get back far enough to avoid kicking into the man on the mark. Used to do my head in the number of times he did that. Love the guy.

Perhaps 'den' or 'lair' rather than 'barn' which implies chooks, pigs, horses and so on, relatively benign creatures controlled by humans. Our beasts are 'off the leash', 'breathing fire' types, not creatures mollycoddled by barnyard life, concerned only with the timing of their next feed. Wild beasts are bred to slaughter not be slaughtered, unlike all but horses in a barnhouse setting.

You are correct sir.

We are dead set lucky he has come on and eradicated his early career errors. We really were lacking a pocket/flanker who has a bit of grunt. Good stuff

I really hated all the Maynard hate the last few years.

Young defenders take time to become the ruthless, uncompromising, stingy, hard nosed and bull-like players we need them to be in the black and white stripes.

Perfect description. I've just added a couple more words to make it complete.:)

Imagine when he starts playing more midfield.

Grundy. De Goey. Sier. Maynard.

Did I just have a wet dream?

I really like the player Maynard has become but I don't think he's a midfielder. He's becoming a really good medium back / utility. Leave him there.

Here, here.

This ain't the Marc Murphy or Jack Watts, raised by dandelions thread.

I love it. The great teams have initimidators. We have several great ones in the making.

The maynartaur has a labyrinth. Those who dare to enter invariably get torn to pieces.

We paid a price for all that early exposure but there was always the promise of what he could do to justify it. Certainly reaping the rewards on that early investment now. He, Crispy and Langdon have been the cornerstones of our defence this year.

I would also add Adams, Grundy Mihicek Varcoe none take a backwoods step.

What does Marley Williams have to do with Maynard?

Maynard has leadership , yet he is still so young. That's something our backline had lost in the last few years.

Himself, Langdon , Scharenberg have shown maturity beyond their years.
