Ben appears to have found his inner demons and developed a solid "team oriented" approach to scoring while also working hard to drop his set shot accuracy to a suitable level over the past 4-6 weeks, so he might be a better (perfect?) fit for our forward line now than he was previously?

Needs to have McCreery coaching him on taking responsibility for the open shot.

it was the reason i suggested maynard for simmons, as both dont score... simmons also gets less emotionally involved in the game

Yeah the first round pick is going the other way for Weideman anyway if Tom Morris is on the money. He'll eventually connect the dots with his favourite coloured crayon and come up with Maynard for Weideman as a deal which is fair for both sides.

That'd be a huge pass from me.

Off topic but I don't blame a young baller who has just had the biggest mental and emotional meltdown we've seen in a while on one of the biggest stages in elite sports feeling like he's not going to be mentally up to competing at the Olympics 4-5 weeks from now.

Your right, practicing with his shooting coach brother during the offseason has worked wonders for him so far, why would he want to represent his country and share the court with a couple of NBA champions where he might learn to have a bit of fight?

I don't think I would add Weids to the list as a delisted free agent. Haven't seen anything to suggest he will be a long term quality KPF.

Yes it’s actually getting ridiculous. Trading a contracted player who was in the AA squad for a guy who can’t get a game or a kick and not best 22.
All because people are hysterical about getting a key position forward regardless how shit he is.

Fact is without a strong midfield delivering the ball forward, doesn’t matter who your KP forward is. Just won’t make a big difference.

With all the drama we have had kicking winning scores nobody thinks to connect rubbish delivery from upfield.

We've lost Swan and Treloar, Adams and Pendles are starting to carry injuries and Sidey is playing like he's been hit by a truck.

Looks like that one went straight over your head...

How good has Maynard been over the last couple of months? He's been asked to play on key forwards and has taken on and beaten the likes of Franklin, Jeremy Cameron, Georgiades, Fritsch and now Riewoldt.

He's the heartbeat of the team.

Heart and soul player - him and Tay are the living core of this team.

It’s interesting to read that Maynard is keen to play midfield because that’s exactly the type of creative move I think we have refused to make in recent years. Even in a pinch hit capacity if he doesn’t have the tank, Maynard is one of those players you could see as capable of changing the momentum of a game in short aggressive bursts.
Certainly hope a new coach would explore this move.

Yep, get him in there and give him a run. We need someone who can stamp their authority on the midfield battle when things aren’t going our way (like the second half last weekend) and while Maynard doesn’t have the runs on the board, he has the temperament and the stated desire.

Ruscoe is showing capacity down back, and Reef will probably divide time between half-back and midfield. If fitness is the issue, it’s up to Maynard but we should give him a chance.
