We really don’t have any players worth $800k pa. Maybe Moore as an elite key position player approaching his prime footballing years. And as a bottom 3 or 4 club, we shouldn’t expect to have anyone else on that type of money. Obviously Grundy has already a contract, Pendles needs to take a massive cut. Guys like Crisp and Adams the next rung down with Maynard possibly, although I think he may be a bit behind those 2 with JDG in terms of leadership, consistency etc.

That’s completely incorrect. Thomas had a bad ankle. He came off contract and we offered him $450kpa. The Blues offered him $750kpa with a longer contract.

no wonder we need 2 salary caps,every time a player is coming out of contract,they seem to think bending us over is the way to go.He hasn't been quite right all season,and the noise just won't go away,if he wants to go,let him,just get good value for him(which seems to be our biggest problem)

You seem to have judged and convicted Maynard as a money grabbing mercenary. Yet any comment I have seen would suggest otherwise. Saying ‘love playing for Collingwood and being at Collingwood. My heart is with Collingwood. I’m a loyal person’ are hardly the comments of someone looking to leave.

Any comments that suggest doubt may just be a reflection that both Treloar and Stephenson were shown the door against their will and other players may be next.

People seem to be jumping the gun a bit at the moment based on nothing.

Williams' deal is laughed at, and Saad even at $650k is pretty silly. I hope we aren't attributing certain values to our players because of Carlton's hopeless list management.

He's also turning 25 this year. I don't know of many blokes who have been a do-it-all defender for 7 years in an AFL system who have then transitioned into the midfield. Seems like his run is being left late

If I was Maynard, I wouldn’t be in a rush to extend either. Why? He has a contract until end of next year, and the smart decision would be to see who the new coach is going to be. Any prudent person would do the same thing and I’m sure his management would also advise him the same.

Just like Williams wanting to play midfield. He has struggled and now the blues are stuck with an $800k pa half back flanker.

This is all beginning to make more sense. BP makes Jmac’s affinity for Nathan Buckley look like a school yard crush! I’m a bit annoyed at myself for thinking there might be something to it.

I did get a chuckle out of Masked Magician and Maynard’s three sticking points. Not because I don’t believe it, but because I do and how contradictory it all was.

Over reaction and outrage are a sign of the times these days, rational thought for the most is out as we are now accustomed to a sensationalist narrative and at times without any real basis in the truth.
