May have spelt his last name wrong, but you get it.

I love this kid. He's so god damn hard at the ball. The way he tackles is bone crunching. He's got such a strong body and he hits those packs like a wild man. I think, Luke Ball, should be told to mentor this boy, because I really think they play a similar game and could be very similar players. I know he's in and out of the side, but I think they should lock him in there, because I believe he's worth putting the time into.

Played a great game on the weekend. He done some tough things. Kicked some top goals. Set some nice goals up. Took a few marks and laid a few tackles. Absolutely thrilled with this guy and how much he is improving. He's had some bad games but you can expect that from a kid. However, I'm toasting him, because I love the way he plays and I think he has what it takes.

I think he has a much better contested mark and kick than Ball, so I dont think that is a very accurate comparison as Ball plays more in the middle where Caff will play of the half back flank or the half forward flank.

I too was impressed with his game, he crashed a few marking contests and took a really nice contested mark on the wing at one stage, add three goals to that and he was one of our best.

I for one have questioned his ability to have an impact at AFL level, particularly with his extremely suspect set shot goal kicking. He didn't have a set shot but possibly delivered his best game in the seniors. Good work from the lad, keep it up!

I study Brent's face when he has a set shot, and he looks in pain, which tells me he is extremely nervous, because I've noticed he takes set shots at really pivotal moments in the game, but as an AFL player you need to deal with the pressure, so I know what you mean but I think nerves are a huge part of his kicking at goal from set shots.

But, Dawes was struggling with his set shots at first, and I think Caff will learn. He's well poised on the run.

That aside, I think the Caff was terrific on the w/e playing the defensive forward role, a role which I think he should try and make his own.

It's okay Old Spice, no need to get stuck into me again, i thought he performed well.

Re MaCaffer, he's a guy on the cusp. Not just the cusp of a regular senior spot but realistic shot at getting the opportunity to be a Collingwood Premiership player...that would have to make you a little edgy.
The fact he had three goals on the run would go a long way to allaying his insecurity and I hope he comes on.

On goal kicking....how damned relaxed and smooth does Leroy look taking those set shots from all over the ground?
Testament to MM's ability to give players confidence in their own abilities I reckon.

Very good game by the Caff, reminds me of R.O'keefe from swans.

The key difference being that one is an established elite performer with class dripping out every orifice and the other is a fringe player with OK skills who works hard and just had his best game.

Well worth a toast and good luck to him, but gee whiz, lets get a grip.

Actually reminds me more of Matthew Lokan!!

Other than the fact that they're nothing alike in terms of pace, work-rate, tackling, kicking, handballing, marking, position, decision-making, defensive skills and hair thickness, I agree.

LOL brialliant.

Solid work by the Caff on the weekend. I just hope he can back up that performance this Saturday. Been a bit of a knocker of him between mates so I hope he can make me eat a big fat piece of humble pie.

Nice to see some positive stuff written on here about the lad - lots wanted to bag him out when selected last week. Great hands and hard at the ball - set shots can be fixed!!

Always though Brent was in need of one confidence boosting AFL performance in a pressure situation before he would start to show how good he is. Well he's had the performance in front of 80G people against a top side...so let's see where he goes from here.

I think people lacking faith in LeCafe are either lacking in imagination or are not paying enough attention to the skills that he is displaying. He is a great tackler, a strong guy, fierce attack on the football, clean hands, extremely smart, quick by hand, great core strength and great reach. Whilst Ball isn't a great comparison I think he has the building blocks of a fantasic inside mid. The kind guy who can win the ball with strength and reach and then stand up in a tackle and dish it to a guy in space.

I don't think the R.O.K comparisions are too far off either. Sure he hasn't had a massive impact factor in the seniors this year but that is IMO because he is being given specific roles. I don't think he has the engine to play in the midfield at AFL level currently and therefore isn't being used there but his progression suggests that is what we are hoping for from him. The guy won the best and fairest for our VFL side as a foward and found himself on the half back flank the next year playing great footy. Came into the seniors and played on both flanks this year and always played a role. Went back to the 2's and dominated in the midfield.

His set shot technique has been awful this year but I am not overly fussed because I don't see him as a future foward. FWIW he used to have a beautiful set shot technique, I think his goal kicking has been neglected in favour of fitness, strength and field kicking work, which only further suggests his being ear marked for a role further up the ground.

He is thinning badly, i often think this is why he struggles with set shots as he knows the camera is on him and all of australia can see a balding 22 year old

Mainly reason I brought up Ball was because I think their hardness at the contest/ball is similar and I think Caf could play Ball's role well if Ball wasn't in the side. They do have similar traits.
