What happened today ... he had nearly 30 touches and 10 marks and still only scored around 80??

Must be a few clangers in there

Kicked half his balls straight to Geelong, the other half out on the full.

Thankfully he's now got his two worst games for the season out of the way and we can look forward to some good footy from him.

A lot of his mistakes were due to Geelongs hard work to get back and defend in numbers. He had no one to kick to on some occasions, should lift against Blues

Thats it, the only way is up, can feel for him today as his team was getting flogged...there were only 6 essendon players that scored higher than him ;)...

Plus he scored....140+? in the preseason game vs west coast, so he can get those scores.....seems a waste of a trade to me.

And with;

Carlton (no real stoppers)
Western Bulldogs (likewise)
St Kilda (102 & 140 vs. them last 2 games)
Collingwood (NO accountability what-so-ever)

In the next 4 rounds...It seems some people are jumping the gun...

$0.02 :thumbsu:

Some very valid reasons to keep him but the thing that gets to me is that IF you could trade him out and get blokes like cross this week before stantons price drops after this round, would it still be wise to keep stanton?

boys confidence looks shot.

get on the brownlow winner of 08....g.ablett.

I was tempted. Had the cash to have gone from Stants and Davey to G.Ablett and Lloyd...

BUT

I think Stants will become more than servicable, and that would have been one more trade than I needed to make. In the end, just replaced Davey with Reiwoldt.

I'd wait until round 5 or 6 before i trade Stanton. He had something like 7 clangers against the cats so he could've easily had 100 odd points. You wouldn't want to trade him then he starts hitting the 110+ mark, which he is quite capable of doing

That's it though! I was an uncharacteristic amount of clangers for him.

he got 113 points in DT. So he was getting the ball, which is a great sign. :D Jumping of now would be even sillier than jumping off last week... :D

Players like Stanton and goodes make the game for me

They have a really bad start, their prices go down meanwhile your rookies and middle of the run players go up

You trade into a very cheap stanton/gooes and keep him for the year.

Quite a few players fall into this category :D

:D That's the one. Sucks to be in him already, but it's the kind of player you trade into...

Luckily for me, round 1 affects salary the LEAST.

Round 2 affects it the second least.

Round 3 and onwards are all the same...

So here's hoping he's had his bad games for the year... :D

Damn you and your wise words Walesy. It will be the way my luck is in the game that I trade Stanton out for GAblett and then Stants scores 140 for the next 6 weeks, and Gazza falls out of a tree or something...

My brow is going to be furrowed all week over this...

The decision with what to do with stanton is making my life very difficult

If stanton can still score 70 with 7 clangers in a team that lost by nearly 100 points is good enough for me. Take away 5 clangers and put him in an essendon team that is competitive and we will be looking at 100+ scores every week.

Cant wait for him to fall in price and swoop in on a 100+ scorer and watch him hit top form come round 6/7
At the moment i'll be looking at maybe stevens for Stanton round6/7ish stevens average 95 at best, stanton 100+ from round 6 onwards i recon is a pretty safe bet.

If you have him and are still scoring well, ride out his slow start save the trade and he'll repay you, is my opinion.

Maybe a bit out of left field (I haven't seen it mentioned here anywhere)...

...does the loss of Lucas hurt Stanton's SC scoring?

Does the lack of a quality presenter and marker of the ball at HF cause more risky kicks, more kicks to contests...more potential (and real!) clangers?...less assists etc...

Giving him one last chance.
If he doesn't cut it

IN: CROSS

OUT: STANTON

The only downside to that is if Stanton has another bad game, on current form that trade is going to cost you $60,700 more than it would if you did it this round. I guess on the upside if he plays alright and you decide to keep him you would get to save a trade.

Cross looks like going up 63k if he continues with his 125 point avg. so may want to jump on trade b4 that happens.

BUT....stanton can lift. He has tried to get himself in to games recently, running hard etc...and reckon it'll pay off soon.

He has turned in to a top class on baller, however, i think he knows it, and is currently affecting his game.

bump. So disappointed. To all those who have held onto him. Do we continue? Have 100k in my bank so upgrading isn't an issue. Cooney looking very tasty...

yep... pretty disappointed for sure...

But, he's a keeper. And trading him out would hurt my cause more than keeping him...

I swapped Stanton for Priddis last week. Im thinking about getting Stanton back this week, swapping him for Mark Murphy.
