Just heard on 6PR Brett has done his collar bone again. Anyone else have any news?

Why was he playing today?

Club obviously thought he needed the match practice. That one backfired badly though didn't it. Going to need Schammer to really step up now.

On the bright side it'll provide an opportunity for Ibbo or Foster to stake their claim.

Oh well, obviously this season isn't our season.

Maybe next season...oh, wait, didn't we say that last season?

Why was he playing today?

Bloody good question !

I've no other option than to assume he was 'playing' within the Players Association guidelines.
If he is, then WTF ?
He should be one of the players getting psyched for the next 10 games.
I know .......yadayadayada he needed this and he needed that. Blsht.

I can't wait to read the clause/subclause/paragraph that allows him to play during the bye.

Considering he has played so little footy this year, I dont imagine it was that hard to get him to play.

You make it sound like it was a bad decision for him to play. On the face of it it was the logical thing for the club to do.

The guy's only played patches in 3 games since coming back from seven weeks on the sidelines. It's not like he's been overworked and was in need of a rest. It's all well and good with the benefit of hindsight to say he should have been sitting back psyching himself up for the rest of the season, but he obviously needed to get his match fitness back up to scratch. At this stage it was better to get another game under his belt than have a week off. We need all our players firing right now - we can't afford to be nursing guys back to full fitness in the first team if we can help it.

You might call it blsht, I call it smart player management. The club can't be held responsible for unlucky injuries.

If Connolly wasn't such a f****wit in giving Peake "2" quarters a game, he wouldn't have needed to play Wafl today!

Talk about under utilised!

Now Peake is gone - probably for the rest of the year...our only good run thru the lines player with speed & long kicking ability!

Obviously he was only giving him that long because he didn't have the fitness to run out a whole game. The guy's just been out for 7 weeks and you expect him to come straight back in with no warm up matches and play full games?

Do people realise how much fitness is required to required to run out full games of AFL football? There's a reason why they say players that can't do a full preseason are behind the 8 ball for the entire year.

If you've seen the bloke at training & games - fitness - is not his problem. I think he has a.d.d as he runs around like a chook with his head cut off. The fact is he is not utilised correctly or enough. He may have been out for 7 weeks, but a bloke like Peakey doesn't lose his fitness...he's a natural runner.

CC wasted him & now he & we must pay the penalty of him stupidly playing Wafl footy

His old man will tell u!

Out for the year it sounds like. Very bad break.

Since he has been back in the team his form was far from good. He would have been a borderline selection from what I saw, and not having him on the ground may well have been because we needed someone in better form while Peake tried to find some. Playing in the WAFL was designed to do the same thing; get him in form. Certainly no relation between him not getting "enough" game time and him re-breaking the collar-bone.

From what I've seen of Peake since he came back he hasn't been ready for the AFL level. Very hesitant to go in for the hard ball, not willing to run the ball. Looks like he came back too soon.

And we were all wondering how we'd find room for everyone to come back in after the break. Looks like a lot of that's been taken care of between Peake and Taz.

Thanks Gav, some posters are running around like headless Chooks (apology Chook ;)).

I think conditioning may also have been an issue. The game would get more mileage into his legs and hopefully find some form.

Just bad luck ppls
