Guys, our mascot is seriously disapponting.

He bears no relation to a Docker at all; with the weird black eyes and mishappen arm and legs he looks more like Kurt Cobain after a heavy night. Whilst I appreciate that most of the AFL sanctioned mascots look crap (the Eagle looks more like a camp Foghorn Leghorn) I want to bring Grinder back.

Not necessarily the lumpen huge headed mascot of the 90's but a modern version. When we win our first flag I don't want to buy a Weg Poster with a blonde slacker on it. :o

Agreed that a "Docker" mascot should be much more masculine than what we have but Johnny "The Doc" Docker appeals to the kids apparently.

Agreed. Although The Doc is better than Elvis....

That's an understatement. The little kids, in particular, worship him. Watch their reactions next time Johnny is doing his pre game bit, it's quite hilarious.

Ask my three and a half year old nephew who his favourite player is and it's instantly "Johnny Docker". At junior member events etc, all he wants is his photo with Johnny Docker.

Mascots are pretty silly and Johnny Docker is not different, though I do think it was a very smart move by some marketing boffin in terms of attracting the kids.

I agree that he probably does but I'm sure that a suitable version of Grinder would as well, especially if he did somersaults etc. The problem with the old mascot was that he had a huge head and couldn't do much but stagger around and scare the kiddies.

Jonny the Doc is hilarious. I remember at the first derby of last year he and the WC mascot had a little punch up. Was quite funny...the eagle grabbed one of the goal posts that the kids were using for the half time thing they do and chased Jonny with it.
