Contrary to a previous post . Brock 3 times tonight intercepted Norths run on play , 2 times resulting in Blues goals . This was huge when considering the numerous times North scored goals from run on plays . Many on here have selective eyesight.

Some (seemingly most) Carlton supporters shit me.

McLean played well, so did Robbie Warnock. However supporters are more concerned about bagging our players than supporting them.

He had some good passages of play and some ordinary ones... he just is not able at the moment to grasp that transition from VFL to AFL... unless Curnow has a blinder in the Ants I'd think Brock will hold his spot..

Talking of holding spots you'd think Houlihan (I know he was the sub) would really not hold much of a chance once our injury list goes down and Russell, Carazzo return to the fold.

The ol' venus fly trap technique...stand still long enough and eventually the prey will come to you.

Did enough for mine, considering he has been in the vfl for a while, will get better the more he plays.

really shits me reading some of the crap that some type on here about him:thumbsd:

Its like some people just have to bag out someone or something n matter what.

If you're gonna create toast threads over performances like that then you've got low standards.

He did ok, but nothing to start getting excited about.

I guess this makes up for the 2 slipped tackles of his that resulted in North goals.

I am interested to know if you were you at the game tonight or just watching on TV? I watched Brock closely all night at the game and besides at stoppages he never seemed to have an opponent. It's scary to think how many touches his direct opponents had. He seemed to trail the football all game too, not once did I ever see him running ahead of the play or looking to link up. Was seriously stuck in no-mans land for at least 70% of his time on ground.

Keen to know the MC's thinking for bringing him in. As expected he got exposed for speed many times tonight. The fact that he doesn't seem to be able to lay a good tackle doesn't help his cause either (I am talking about real tackles not lying on top of someone in a pack). As I said above, two of his slipped tackles directly resulted in NM goals.

He did work his way into the game in the 4th quarter when the pace slowed right down, but we can't afford to carry someone for 3 quarters while the game slows down to their speed. We can't afford to carry guys like Brock against the better sides in the competition.

I don't want to jump on here and pot players but as far as I am concerned his papers are stamped. Sorry Brock you seem like a good bloke but I would much rather get games into kids than a guy whose best football appears behind him.

RW domInated the in form ruckman of the comp. Was excellent. McLean was very good as well. Just get used to most footy followers not understanding the sport. It's just entertainment for them. Hence, they love fast running, high jumping spuds, rather than people who know how to play.

Started slowly but worked his way into the game well.

Not in our best players but it was a solid hitout from Brock. Certainly a platform from which he can grow.

He's slow as hell but he's tough and will give it his all. Was recalled as a direct replacement for Curnow who has been performing well below par for a while and certainly delivered more than Ed has for quite some time.

Brock has worked very hard at reserves level and deserved a crack. Certainly did enough to keep his spot for at least 1 more week. We know what he can do at VFL level and he is too good for that grade. Keep him in the senior team for a few weeks and see if he can build on tonight's performance and really add to the team. Like many players who have struggled with form and fitness, he may just need some continuity in his game at senior level - a chance to work his way into form whilst adjusting to the rigours of AFL once again.

Disappointing to read the opinions of some posters who have written him off and won't give any sort of credit when it may be due. Poor form.

Was solid tonight, some of his work in the 2nd & 3rd qtrs in tight situations was very good.
Has every reason to be selected against the "bruise free" demons next Saturday.

I thought Brock was poor for the first 3 quarters, called him a bum, but he really was good in the final stanza where the game was there to be won.

People like me get upset because we gave up a 1st rnd pick for him which i guess he gets bagged at games.

Has earnt another chance next week.

Am shocked at the level of praise the guy is receiving ....he is costly.

Frequently feel like I dont want him to get the ball - maybe i am blinded by the fact the guy has played ten games for the club in two years....just not impressed by anything, (fair enough) while he is costly.

will rewatch the game only for brock - but seriously - he is no kade, he is no duigan, no murph, no mitch, maybe carrazzo or bentick.

Yeah he gave more than Curnow has recently but you must remember that Brock cost us pick 11 whereas Curnow was a rookie pick IIRC. So by virtue of nature Brock is always going to be more heavily scrutinised by supporters since we paid a relatively high price to get him. That's why supporters expect more from him, similar to why a number one pick is expected to perform better than a number 30 pick. It is also why supporters are more leniant on Curnow, it's because not much was really expected of him in the first place so if he performs well then he's considered a gem.

does not deserve to be in the team, game has gone past him soon as the mc relise that the better, STOP SUGAR COATING IT HIS DONE!

Thought he received a pass mark tonight.

Did some hard things, had 9 tackles and worked hard. I saw him chucking up in the 3rd I think, so he clearly worked to a high level.

He'll get another game and should be given a month to settle in while Curnow gets some form back.

You don't seriously think Carrazzo and Bentick are on the same level? Carrazzo's absence has shown that he is important to the team. Bentick was delisted.

I would like to see Brock keep his spot for next week, he looked like he had adjusted to the change of pace late in the game. Hopefully he can keep that going into the Melbourne game.

Agree. I am strongly against Brock being in our best 22 and think he has not shown anything in terms of disposal or pace that warrants him being in our side for most of this year.

But he did do enough to hold out Curnow for another week. Must continue to improve

Considering there were a fair few players tonight who displays poor levels of disposal all around the ground to target Brock exemplifies the mentality some have of " Ignore any good to focus on minor bads"

He was not a standout player but he didn't do anything I'd warrant as awful. People forget his role was never to be a speed demon but as a tackling contesting player. 9 tackles says he did that to a passable level. Too slow? The rate of which the game grows faster you miss a year you're in massive trouble no matter who you are.

I'd give him a follow up run against Melbourne.

Thank God we didn't use pick two on Wells who was sighted less than Simpson tonight...

Dumb argument.
