Roast Bryce Gibbs

I bought Darren Jarman dinner once, quite common for fans to fork out their hard-earned for club legends
You and everyone else in adelaide by the looks.

Hmm. Don't know what is true, but that scenario goes very close to salary cap rule breach.
If true I'm confident that we covered our tracks expertly

BT mentioned off field issues this arvo, that on the back of 5AA earlier in the week, so the media are aware

I don't think it's close at all.

If it's true it's another Tippet scale scandal waiting to happen.

Can you imagine if we get stripped of Carltons first round pick?!

If that happens over Gibbs I'm not going to handle it well.

That has been gaining momentum with the added part that the debt was paid off by a wealthy club supporter. Hard to know if there is truth to it and probably a hard one for someone to report on in the media.

Even if the club came out and denied it you couldn't believe them anyway.

There has been clearly something that we don't know about but may be as simple as an injury the club wants to keep in house.

That's complete bollocks. People over estimate 'supporters' desire to donate large sums of money, especially with no tax benefit.

Maybe but you can tell the media in SA and Victoria know something but can't say it. I am not confirming it is gambling but something is going on that can't be reported.

The Melbourne media keep the rumours going.

SEN chief broadcaster Gerard Whateley simply believes the Crows are keeping the full story close to their chest about why Gibbs is coming in and out of the side.

“The only conclusion to this is that we’re not being told the whole story and that one day we might learn it, but we’re not learning it at the moment,” Whateley said.

Huddo: "Do you think Bryce Gibbs will be at the Crows next year?"

Gerard: "If we had a mid-season trade period, he wouldn't be there next week"

Wouldn’t be hard to pay it off and take complete control of his AFC earnings and manage his finances until the debt is completely repaid though. You’re right that there’s no way anyone pulls a couple of hundred gorillas out of their pocket to pay the debts of a degenerative gambler just because they’re an AFC player. It wouldn’t solve anything anyway, because a problem gambler just keeps gambling. There’d be serious strings attached and full control of income dispersal would be a requirement by anyone lending that kind of cash. Not commenting either way on the likelihood of a gambling problem, just that there is a reasonable way for a ‘supporter’ to help him clear a debt like that.

I’m still going with Stiffy_18 reasoning of a severely hampered preseason as to his lack of run and therefore form. A gambling debt that’s small to him, ie $50k, but might result in the need to shift some money around and an awkward conversation with the betrothed, could end up being a massive and debilitating debt as the rumour mill gathers pace.

We wouldn’t cut a player mid-season because they have a gambling addiction. No club in the league would do that. Every club would work with the player to sort out their financial life and ensure they get the mental help they need. So if he’s serious about the certain trade outcome, we can remove gambling problem from the table. I choose banging a coach’s missus as a replacement rumour. That would see him gone in a mid-season trade period. It’s easier now that we know the punishment, thanks Gerard.

I heard that same rumour except it was about Dayne Beams and Eddie McGuire.
