Very poor effort from him today, we should expect more from him. Uncharacteristically turned the ball over on numerous occasions and his poor kicking solely killed off our momentum during the start of the last quarter. The crows seemed to be too physical for him to handle. I know he is a beautiful player when in prime form but today wasn't good enough.

Fumbled a fair bit and it wouldn't surprise me if his confidence took a bit of a hit when he kicked it straight to Tippett when kicking in from a behind.

Had an ordinary game but he has had a sensational year and I'll back him to learn from today's performance and become a better player as a result.

everyone looks when theres no pressure, its when its hot in the kitchen players get found out.

needs to get a good old fashon belting to relise it doesnt really hurt that much...

Had a shocker today, kicking was woeful at times. Very unlike him not to have a good kicking effiency. Agree with Jeremias, he's having a stellar year and he was bound to have a bump in the road somewhere. Hopefully he bounces back next week.:D

I didnt realise there was a next week!! :o

In all seriousness he didn't play very well but one bad game doesn't warrant him being dropped. Judd had an off day aswell, should we drop him? (to all who thinks he should be dropped).

He is a good player and good players know how to bounce back.

I can think of 10 other players to be dropped before him.

We're all hurting because of that loss. no one wanted to lose like that, Doesn't mean every player who played should be dropped. players have bad games. yes. even no. 1 draft picks. maybe you should harden up and get out there instead of sitting infront of your computer whinging cause we lost

What are we going to start a Thread Every time a player has a bad game or is a bit off.

FFS.

The OP was fine. It was constructive criticism and was not over the top or abusive towards the player. This one is a case of having to accept that not every thread has to be positive and not reacting to it.

Good player when on song, terrible day today, but undroppable.

I think he's just got a little ahead of himself, needs to win some hard ball, and lessen the time he spends with Fevola after hours.

You could be right about that. Murph seems to be following in Juddy's footsteps while Gibbsy is closer to Stevo (who had his best game for the season by the way). I guess we would prefer another Juddy

Got to admit, Gibbs did look a tad soft today but like someone else said, he has a lot of credits in the bank.

A lot of posters ask why players like Murphy and Gibbs miss the roast after a poor game and why Russell is always targeted (who was also VERY poor BTW); well at least this post stream targets Gibbs to keep those guys happy

Precisely the reason I am happy to keep it, and it does not go too far for the most part.

Rather than hearing how soft he is like an opposition troll would say, I'd rather our own posters were more constructive and explained where he shirked a contest and then suggested he needed to go in harder.

I'm not a fan of generic putdowns like 'he's a dud' or 'he's soft' without any accompanying explanation. It just looks like the poster wants to put the player down but is too lazy to expand on it. If you have the time to write the putdown, you have the time to justify it IMO.

Sort of a valid point. I thought Gibbs soft on 2-3 occasions but would need to rewatch it to quote you the exact play and time which is hardly realistic. I suppose the best way for you to get that information is to challenge the poster if you think that is wrong. So step one is for you to say "he was def not soft in his approach on the ball today" before evidence is required. Too hard a process otherwise.

Gibbsy after the first weeks has been happy getting the ball kicked backwards or sideways to him.

He is going through a stage Buckley went through early in his developement when he needed to learn to gut run and get the ball on the move rather than stationary all the time.

Like Buckley did early he has developed a habit of trying to take the ball one handed too often when it is in dispute and that can make you look soft if you fumble or like a star when it comes off.

A fantastic player and I reckon Harvey or Bradley need to get into his ear and he make sure he doesn't start measuring his games by how many stats he has but rather the impact his possies have.

There is a top post for you ODN. I will only add that it will be nice to see him risk his physical well being by just attempting to burst through a pack when we need a lift

There was an earlier post that simply said he is soft and needs to go back to the VFL to harden up. Pretty generic.

I don't mind someone saying, I thought he was soft today but not labelling him soft overall without further discussion. Yours was just the one I quoted.
