Looking at that video i will be surprised if he dodges this bullet, the sling action was well after he release the ball.

He didn't know the ball was released, so I don't think it's relevant. They'll grade it with the assumption he had the ball.

Pretty much just holding the man

The release of the ball was not when he loses possession though. The player being tackled attempted to kick the ball and he was already in the sling action so he was still technically in possession of the ball by the letter of the law.

Hard to tell whether he is kicking toward the ball or just being launched by the tackle, doesn't look good to me, and its Buddy..

Buddy would not have been aware that the ball had come loose. Healy is a clown - all game there were negative inferrals re Hawks and the frees Port "should/could" have had etc...

He should be fine. They penalise players that drive the tackle into the ground. Buddy softened his landing and didn't pile drive him with an intent to hurt. That's the difference. If there is separation just before the opposition player makes contact with the ground, he would be looked at. He doesn't throw him into the ground, head makes no contact with the ground, and the player plays out the rest of the game.

Give it up Gerrard. You are trying too hard.

How about the 5,000 replays of Buddy's elbow at angry ant Hamish Hartlett? They tried every angle possible to try and nail him for that one too. Luckily for Buddy, he didn't connect!

On this one though, one would hope he is fine as there is no injury or head hitting the ground, but I'll be very nervous until we see the MRP's report.

Hope you guys are right, losing Lewis last week and Buddy this round would be the pits. The Lions may even be in with an outside chance - fresh from a week off if we are Buddyless.

I'd agree if it was at the Gabba, but at the MCG Brisbane are no chance. Or will it be Brisbane in Fitzroy colours?

He contributes to his fortune. True.

However they...(They are the media and their tall poppy syndrome) trying so hard to rub the best player in the comp out. Leave the man alone to play the game to the best of his ability. If his name was C. Judd then he would have won the Brownlow three times over by now. Ohh the double standards of this competition.

Was only a matter of time before Buddy was reported for this type of tackle. He has been treading a fine line all year with this tackling technique.

Shouldn't go but you never know.

What should happen is the umpire that made the report should withdraw it first thing tomorrow.

Yeah he did connect. I was sitting on an angle that the camera was not on and I can tell you Buddy connected to the head. Not much contact in it as Hartlett didn't react in any way shape or form from it other than the already biffo and shirt tugging that was going on.

Great player is Buddy, but if the MRP are consistent we should see him out for at least 2 weeks. Must be frustrating for you lot considering if I remember correctly, it was about the halfway point of the last.
Best of luck though.

Consistent? If they were consistent, James Kelly would have got 2 weeks for his efforts last week. The problem is, the MRP are NOT consistent.

And your thought on Kelly from last week RobDog ...?

Nothing in the Kelly incident but yeah I agree, consistency is something they obviously don't pride themselves on. Anyway I hope he gets off, with the damn bye and no Cats next weekend I was looking forward to Buddy tearing the Lions apart. :thumbsu:

It won't happen. It will go up for scrunity. Channel 7/10/ 1...SEN ...the list goes on. Until they get what they want. The sensationalist story that the player who one week kicks 13..the next is rubbed out...

Oh I know what will happen, mate. How I wished I could have reached into the TV and grabbed Healy by the throat.

I really like watching play so I don't want to see him rubbed out but he's going to be very lucky to get away with this one. It doesn't matter if Stewart did or didn't have the ball, it's the sling motion that will be looked at and more than likely with some penalty.

You were too late, i got there first and Healy's throat was already occupied.

Geelong supporter....no doubt an unbiased source. If memory serves me well Taylor Walker was rubbed out for two matches for a sling tackle on Harry Taylor recently. However part of the MRP rap sheet was that "high contact" was involved i.e. his head hit the ground. No high contact in this case so how can they possibly grade it as equal to the Taylor Walker incident.

You are only addressing the level of impact. It will still be considered 'reckless'.

Can debate it as much as we want, but we all know the MRP change like the wind. He can go from anywhere between 0-2 weeks. Just not sure about his carry over points.
