Buddy - Youngest 100 goal kicker ever?

Hi folks,

I've been thinking that perhaps young Lance could become the youngest ever to kick 100 goals in a season and I've been trying to find some stats on that one.

Does anybody know?

Tony Lockett, I think, had only just turned 21 when he notched the ton in 1987.

It might come down to a matter of days between him and Buddy.

Alan Jakovich never got anywhere near 100 goals in a season.

I'd suggest that John Coleman was younger than Franklin when he got his first ton.

I think becoming the first indigenous Australian to achieve the feat might mean more to the man himself anyway.

Besides, let's hope he is the youngest to kick 100 in a premiership year.

Has anyone ever done the Coleman/Norm Smith double?

I dont think Ablett won the coleman in 89 and he would probably be the closest candidate.

I can't remember his age but it was brought up a couple of weeks back on SEN and they said Coleman was a few months younger than Buddy when he kicked 100.

Obviously there could of been others that kicked 100 goals that season too. But from the above I would say Plugger is just ahead by a few months.

Buddy turned 21 in January this year, whilst Plugger turned 21 in March the year he kicked 100.

That is certainly the case, as Buddy now owns the record for the number of goals kicked in a season by an indeginous player. Pretty good considering his age, and the number of games left still to play this year.

Jeff Farmer, with 76 goals in 2000 was the previous record holder for the most number of goals kicked in a season by an indigenous player.

Not quite the tonne, but John Longmire won the Coleman, kicking 98 goals at 19 years of age, not a very well known fact.

You would have thought it safe to bet at the time that Roach would have got another, and Longmire would have got one, but not to be.
Highlights how much we should enjoy Buddy's season as u just never know what might happen in the future.
