I would suspect that due to off-season rehab and wanting to bulk him up a bit would give him that little belly. But he's got the right build and physique and age with him to burn that off, so that by mid-season it'll be gone.

The one we should be talking about is Dew. He's had his second pre-season and seriously he's bigger now than he was last year?? Yes he had a great GF game, but you'd think he'd have stopped the celebreating by now.

The beer will catch up with him on day
Its all to do with their bodyshape and reaction to supplements and training. If you notice a few hawks players (and other clubs too) are bigger at the start of the season cos like the person said above they are coming out of their bulking phase (done at the end of pre-season with anaerobic training). They end the season smaller/lighter than at the beginning of the season because throughout the year they do so much during the games and time spent in recovery (can't smash weights all week after a game) that they can't maintain the same weight. For example, one may start the season at around 82 kg, go down to 80 mid season, perform a mini pre-season

Plus buddy always looks like that... well he did last year. Got to lose the neck beard and shave his head again - everytime he comes out with a haircut he goes crazy: vs Essendon kicks 9 goals with stupid comb over, vs WB with shaved head in finals kicks 8.

I have seen him do 400s at waverly, the boy is fit. Hodge was laughing about his own skinfolds on SEN last week

dont know what club youve been watching. Dew has lost a lot of girth, wont lose much more, but has lost a lot. but still, why does it matter about the weight of a player?

really? anyone? why the obsession? so what if they look fat. they are getting paid high amounts of money to do what they love, whilst most of you are stuck in dead-end jobs with no future.

get over yourselves, fix your own roblems rather then having a go at a few players who "look" fat

he's only young yet, but we've all seen his dad.

I give him 3 years and he'll be the AFL answer to Grenville Deitrich.:D

I thought Deitrich was VFL/AFL, Collingwood drafted him, part of the sign on deal was a good supply of bottle openers to save him using his teeth all the time, lol. Ahhhh, the good old days.

Word is that Buddy has tested positive twice for Krispy Kreme donut usage. Three strikes and the team nutritionist is going to suspend him.

Dew is clearly a bad influence.

This is the risk that Hawthorn took taking Dew on.

Many commentators, myself included, were of the view that introducing a player like Dew, given his past problems, could do irreparable damage to the culture of such a young club.

Now the Hawks are paying the price.
