Hynes best game for the club too.
He's tracking just like Sanders did in his first games. Both had a propensity to handball instead of kick. He went at 9:1 tonight.

I suspect that as he gains experience and a feel for the speed of the game that it will swing back the other way.

What I did like was his intensity at the contest which proved crucial when all players began to run out of gas late in the last.

He's got it.

Compliment sandwich - Freijah great in second half, Darcy great in first, team did enough to win.

I’m a glass half empty on this performance, so apologies in advance.

Sydney wins that if they kick straight. And they’re not that good.

We do not do the little things well. Almost every player panics and rolls out after the mark when we do not need to do that. Naughton is atrocious at it, but then I saw Buku do it with a few minutes to go and I wondered if it was a team issue.

Every other player in the comp is pretending to take a set shot and take 30 seconds off the clock. Why is Buku not? It feels like poor preparation.

We consistently handball to players with an opponent on their back because we have to handball seemingly at all costs. If the opposition is fired up to compete, can we adjust? Is it ok to actually respond to the situation ffs?

Swans were pulling goals out of their butts from general play though. I think that does even things up with their poor set shot kicking.

Maybe.

I feel like with the position we were in halfway though the second quarter, a genuinely good/solid team puts the game away and wins by 7-10 goals.

We’re not there. I think our upside is very good, but we’re a way off the top few sides.

I had to get up and pace the garden several times to get through that. Some frustrating things but the surface and the umpiring didn’t help at all.

Really enjoying some of the growth of the lesser lights. Davidson continues to amaze me given where he has come from and the small fingertips he gets in to change the play our way. Freijah was excellent and West all class with the pressure he brings.

Well done Dogs I can enjoy my weekend now 😍👍

Bramble stuck it up a few on here tonight. He may only be a role player but he played a massive part of our win tonight.
He took up the slack after Dale got tagged out of the game in the second half.

Thats the beauty of this side. It has a revolving door of players with that ability when the likes of the Bont or Richards are having down games by their high standards. Tonight we saw Freijah particularly in the second half, Kennedy and Sanders lift their rating and get us over the line.

Hynes with some clutch efforts too, great to see him building some confidence
Hynes will be a better version of Kennedy, albeit a little quicker and with better skills. But will be a big unit, tough, will tackle hard and be able to play a number of roles across the ground. He should become a really good player based on what I’ve seen in vfl/afl. Great recruiting.

Buku should have come into the game much earlier. Mcniel does my head in.

If you were told that Bont, Richards, English, Darcy (after qtr time) and Libba were all beaten but we won would you believe it? Great team effort off a 5 day break. Showed a heap of character not to roll over once Swans hit the front.

Special mentions to Freijah, Naughton, Sanders, West and Bramble.
Hynes showing signs and Harmes was also influential when he was moved into the middle.

We needed to win that, otherwise the flat track bully tag is carved into stone.

Still spewing that McNeill missed that shot in the second quarter, would've taken the lead out to 33 and I think the game would have transpired differently.

Naughty missing that sitter early in the 3rd was a similar vibe too (big Naughty supporter and am stoked he's got his mojo back, but that moment really stung)

The big change this year is that our better players can have off nights and we still perform well.

We’re definitely getting better performances from that 6-18 group within the team. There’s still a few I’m concerned about at the bottom but we’re building a really nice overall squad.

Defense is a BIG worry though. It seems like we’re unable to stop good teams once they get on a roll.

That was a brilliant win.

They threw everything at us. We responded each time.

Freijah, Naughton, Sanders (last quarter!), Bramble, English, Davidson (just for that another alone) all of them were fantastic.

Very proud.

Top 4 a chance now.

And go **** yourselves Sydney.

You won your precious free kick count by 8 (and you’ll probably still be whining about the umpiring.

Heeney and Papley spent all game gobbing off and trying to start fights

And you still lost.

All while playing on a surface that was a public liability hazard.

Nauseating.

Off you ****.

Vision tonight of whomever at the AFL green lit an Andrea Bocceli concert on the SCG two weeks into a ****ing football season!

Honestly this competition is not run by serious people if that surface was signed off on as fit for purpose.

It succeeds in spite of their insipid, money grabbing management.

Get to down to Melton Rec Reserve. Riddell v Melton South, huge game.

I can pick you up.
Thanks, but being outside for long in this weather would not be good for me. I'll be content watching games on my laptop with the heat on. If Sunday's game is still up on 7plus I might watch that.
