Yes i'm going there.... but Tony Jones was sad Sunday night with Brian Naylor's passing..... last night he was up to his old tricks :thumbsd:, barging in on people's personal space (and venturing into a tent to see what it looked like on the inside). Whoopie doo

Not to mention that there was a baby asleep in the tent. I couldn't believe it when he asked if he could have a look in the tent.

Haven't people suffered enough ?
I guess they have to give him something to do seeing as though they're paying him a fortune to sit on his arse and do nothing.

I can't wait to see what "celebs" 9 wheel out for this one. Like you said JUBJUB these people have suffered enough without having to sit through 2 hours worth of Merrick and Rosso and the likes.

they are all as bad as each other, channel 9 will be feeling it more with the death of Brian Naylor, the main thing is they raise a sh!tload of money for the victims, would you rather w***ers like koshie and co. hosting?

you make a good point.

I think I've seen every notable 'reporter' from each station walking the streets over the past couple of days. Nine also seem to be whoring themselves as 'Melbourne's Best' at every opportunity.

The "how do you feel?" questions are disgraceful and it's cringeworthy seeing reporters in firefighting gear awkwardly trying to comfort people just to get a good shot.

Seeing Tom Steinfort waltzing around in the rubbles of peoples homes in his designer jeans, shirt and shoes made me feel ill.

Same here.

I'm pretty sure a couple of Diptheria epidemics killed more than these fires also.
Pretty sure these are classed as disease epidemics, not "natural disasters" as suck. Geez, AIDS has killed more people than this, would you class that as a natural disaster as well?

did anyone see Dixie Marshall on Perth's ch9? she was interviewing one of the survivors and at the end she asked her "are you going to cry?" what sort of question is that!

Another thing that is annoying me is the want of media to speculate about potential death tolls.
I swear they have a morbid appetite for the numbers to grow. :(

As an example, one of the lead stories on the 3AW news was 'It is believed the death toll may rise to 300', whereas on 774ABC, the news report said 'There are 182 confirmed deaths, however with dozens missing there are fears the toll may rise to 200'.

Says an awful lot about the commercial media.

BTW Interesting to see the sharing, caring Channel 9 showing an episode of 'The Mentalist' tonight which focuses on an arsonist who goes around small country towns lighting fires with the sole intention of killing people.

Classy 9, classy.

We do need a poignant name. The meejia are off the ball on this!

The Australian has come up with 'Black Saturday'.

Cant wait until ch9 bring out the big celebs like Jules Lund and Hi-5. Will be cringeworthy stuff. I wont be watching.

Anyone about to attack me for being souless, i have already donated money and watching cringeworthy TV wont make any difference for me.

And if i want to listen to people's stories, i will speak to a mate who lost his house in Kinglake.

Noticing that aswell, fair enough getting in some of their local presenters in the area to give other states a feel for whats going on. But sending in 40749093743902473097902 reporters from other states, just use the Melbourne ones!! they'd have a better idea on the local community feel, ahead of others who havn't lived in Victoria.

They have a picture of some of the peoplewho died and in the middle is a picture of a young girl which sticks out (blonde blue eyes)

Now can some one please tell me why the young girl is more important than the others? Especially given that there is a young guy in there not much older?

its like yesterday when there was a feature story on the two attractive young sisters.

tbh i dont really mind given there are photos everyday of people who have died.

It's sickening isn't it. The media plays and feeds the undercurrent of racism in this campaignerry.

The cynic in me is detesting all these celebs and organisations who are jumping on the fundraising bandwagon. Also it seems every shop has set up a basket and if you don't throw your change in the basket you get filthy looks.

Sometimes the reactions and behaviour from certain sections of the community gives me no choice to not give a shit. There is so much one can take before apathy sets in at a rapid pace.

At least money is being raised i suppose...but frig.

I haven't watched much of the coverage but I can imagine it would be just like other disasters we have had. The TV media eat these things up as their are so many angles to cover it from. I usually switch these things over once they start repeating the same stuff over and over and show the same images again and again. Better just to watch 10 mins here and there.

I hate it that whenever something bad happens in this country, they make a point of saying how it has made news all over the world, especially the U.S.
Seriously, who gives a shit.

agreed.

I have noidea why Australians are so concerned what the international world thinks. It isn't going to fix the problem.

3AW are getting worse, especially Denis O'Kane.

He signed off from one report with "From what was formerly Flowerdale, Denis O'Kane".
