SR: Geez, Butch, how do you find time to train and cut up chops? Do you like sausages?

MB: he's not a real Butcher Stephen

SR: but does he like sausages? I heard you guys like sausages, because...

JB: um,

SR:...woolly woofters like sausages right Bicks?

JB: Ah, well

SR: don't they Skippedy-doo? Hey Johnny boy. Johnny-Come-Lately. Did you catch all the goals that Eddie and the Jets, Jay-Jay, McLovin', Roooaaaarey, Charlie Warlie Pudding and Pie kicked? Wasn't that a great effort without the Texan Texas Walker Texas Ranger, Ranger Danger Beware of Strangers? Did you see it or were you too busy with the old Pork Chops?

JB:...

MB: that was a great effort Saturday night did you find your confidence with kicking --

SR: Loin chops, T Bone, Porterhouse. PORTERHOUSE! do you get called Porterhouse because you are a Butcher and Porterhouse is a cut of meat and it has Port in it?

JB: no

MB: no

SR: BUT GEEZ it's a great nickname, does Big Dicko Dixie Chicks Chickpea Dixon ever have you over for a glass of wine and a fillet mingon?

Interesting that he got 1 vote from the coaches mvp

Curious if that's from Ken or Leppa

If JB's previous lack of confidence was in any way related to him being declared 'the future of Port ' after just 6 games or so..........
..........at least it should help him immensely now he has been downgraded to just being Jesus Christ

Definitely less pressure to perform.

"Obviously his kicking needs to continue to improve and he tends to float in and out of games so he needs to be able to stick at it for a whole game." - Justin Westhoff

Wow.

You now what I say with Butcher . .?
Get over for a handball when he marks it , take the pressure off him .
Some of his leads Sat. night were exquisite, run past get the handball , kick the goal and everyone's happy .

I think Butch needs to be groomed into the Jenkins type of forward where he works his opponent high up the ground then doubles back and sprints back towards an open goal where he can kick on the run or snap.

He is going to be way too fast for any tall defender and if a small is matched on him - Butch will out mark him every time, he is also very clean below his knees for ground ball gets.

Playing him as a high forward from CHF will reduce his need to have set shots from 25-30m out where he struggles... of coarse, players running past for the give and long running shot for goal is going to be needed to also reduce his set shots.

Its now or never for Butch to be played to his strengths - which has always been blatantly obvious is not set shots.

Mirror, mirror on the wall ...

I thoguht Tony Shaw's comments and giggling about him was worse than anything Derm said.

His general attitude towards all things Port has been unprofessionally terrible for some time.

Makes Graham Cornes look like Tim Ginever.

Some people need to remember Butch is only 25. That's relatively young for a key forward. I will be gutted if he's not at PAFC next year. He has the tools and although his kicking is still a little awkward, he's been kicking reasonably accurately in the SANFL this year.

I also think he is the perfect duo for Charlie. Can lead away from Charlie but also has the pace to double back and the leap to jump at the contest if Charlie is being gang r*ped by all the opposition defenders and their pet umpires.

Brisbane or not, it takes talent to display the performance he put forward on Sunday.

Very funny!
There is one thing that disturbs me though. I could almost hear Rowes voice in my head as I was reading it.

Need to get that voice out of my head!

Anyone got a Justin Bieber album they don't listen too anymore?

Utter crap perhaps. Except we lost to them at the Gabba last year and have lost to Freo, Carlton this year.
This year they are shattered and have given up completely.
If Butcher is at least average against one of the flag favorites it will get a tick of approval. If he is completely outpointed and outplayed(flogged) it will be straight back to where he probably should be regarded.

But this test this week you speak of, he is the #1 tall forward. So many of us think he is much better suited to the 2nd or 3rd tall posting, higher up the ground. Many haters/disbelievers seem to ignore this aspect :(

So a fail this week would not that huge, imo. His effort needs to be there though.

Just like he played in the Showdown and the Roo's game that year he played 2 in a row...and did quite well, yet was strangely dropped!

All we need now is John Butcher gif of missing a setshot with a intense red filter over the top and text that says "now is the time to be upset"
