I purchased a digital camera in 2003.... i hate being in photos myself (and im certainly not one that does the whole self portrait thing) and i'm not much of a photographer. I only paid $360 for it back then, it's good value for money i guess in the fact that the camera still works today (use it once in a blue moon). It represents a time where i was being pushed into a "sale" of the same camera, plus a crapload of accessories "at a discounted price".... but there was no way i was going to spend $800+. Felt vindicated when i purchased the camera elsewhere!

I look at some dvd or blu-ray purchases as "regrets", not that i own them... but rather i should have waited 2-3 months and i would have got the same titles 50% or more cheaper.

Mainly DVDs. I have so many DVDs in my collection that i have either never watched, or watched once and will likely never watch again. When i first started full time work i was way into movies, and living at home so not paying rent, so basically if i watched a movie i liked, i'd get it on DVD. Often as a brand new full price release.

And the biggest problem with DVDs is how hard they are to get rid of. Ebay is a pain, and places like Cash Converters give you so little that it's not worth the hassle.

Buyers Remorse - Oakley Sunglasses when I thought they were awesome at age 16. About three days later I realised I'd just spent over $100 on a pair of crappy sunnies.

Sellers Remorse - My Super Nintendo

My old man owns this thread. Just the other day he went to JB to buy I think a CD, and came back with a 62 inch Samsung plasma TV. The TV is awesome mind you, but I think he realised pretty quickly how ridiculous the purchase was.

Portable Air conditioner a few years ago for $600. Sold it a few days later for $300. Absolute piece of shite.
360GB/320Gb? PS3 last year for 90 000 FF points. Had it a couple of days, sold it to a mate for $200. Nearly 3 trips to Melbourne wasted.
Love buying new cars, the smell, everything shiny, single digit on the clock, no one elses problems. If you can afford it, do it.

I know how you feel, I miss that thing.

No Remorse - 41" Samsung LED TV

Most Remorse - $22,500 Toyota Aurion ... although I love it now but it took me 6 months to shake the buyers remorse.

OP, no remorse, read The Communist Manifesto:):thumbsu:

I am not your typical pinko.

I did the same thing with VHS when I got a job before moving into my own place. Even worse then DVD, since they aren't slimline. :o

I beam with pride at my book collection. Far more enjoyably holding a book in your hand than reading it on a Kindle - or worse.
Hell yeah. Books are one thing never to regret getting. Other then family photo's and all the documentation it's a hassle to get again, my books would top the list of things I wouldn't want to lose if my house got flooded or burnt down or robbed. Reading fantasy I like having a row of books in the series to look at. And if they are hardcovers, even better.

Yep. Love looking at my Wheel of Time books taking up almost an entire shelf, with ASOIAF underneath. Not to mention Robin Hobb, Brandon Sanderson, Patrick Rothfuss and others sharing the overburdened bookshelf.

I usually save pretty well, but sometimes I'm prone to impulse spending.

$200 on Tyler Durden lookalike sunnies
$400 on a knife from America
Anything on sale from the port club or auction site

On the bright side, picked up a brand new Gibson Les Paul, usually like 3 grand, for $500.

When will it be my turn to score a Les Paul for $500.
How'd you land that tuna?

One thing I've noticed I do is stew over $100 purchases (clothes, electronic devices etc.) but will go out on the town and spend $100 and not be slighty fazed by it. One purchase services a purpose and the other is a total waste of money yet I seem more Ok with doing it.

Losing TAB tickets would be my major buyers remorse though.

Had a bit of buyer's remorse when I bought my Jeep. No remorse anymore though.

Spent about $30k on furniture which I occasionally think about.

Main regret is the trip to Egypt and Jordan I bought for my then girlfriend. I booked the trip months in advance, by the time the trip ended I couldn't stand the sight of her. Word of advice, do not ever, not matter how you feel at the time, pay for a girlfriend's holiday. If she can't afford to pay for it herself, then she can't afford to go.

And now with the EBT's leaving vouchers in the machines....

Was desperately keen for a PS2. Sold my N64, four controllers, rumble pack, expansion pack, memory card and 10 (TEN!) games for $100.

I'm still kicking myself over that. And to add insult to injury, it's cost me far more than $100 to track down the best games again. At least I didn't do anything stupid like sell Conker's Bad Fur Day or Banjo-Tooie.

I collect diecast aircraft models. There are times when I have bought models only to regret it - it is a very expensive, yet addictive hobby. There are some 'must haves' from my point of view, but those that I would classify as 'nice to have but can live without', yet buy, are the ones that I would regret immediately after and try to sell to recouperate the cost.

Oh god - there is another one of us.

There's nothing quite like the excitement of unboxing a new model and setting it up - looking at it for a couple of days.....and then slowly realising you spent a large amount of money on a toy.

But by then, you have your sights set on the next one..................

We did that a few years ago, went to get a coffee machine and came home with a tv and coffee table but no coffee machine

That wasn't as bad as the Wii I bought. Paid about $800 for it so it was a fair while after they actually came out but still quite pricey. I'm not really a gamer type of person but for some reason I thought I needed one.

I drove about 30km each way to pick up a cricket game in the pouring rain thinking **** this is going to be awesome. I bowled about two overs, couldnt get anyone out and I put it in the cupboard and I havent touched it since.

Now, everytime I drive past EB games on the way to work I see that ****ing sign that says $149 Wii with a free game...To this day i'm still ****ing spewing about it haha and I promise myself each weekend that I will get it out and play it again but it never happens. My neighbour did exactly the same thing, its something we never speak about!

Bought a second hand used defective motherboard being sold as new at MSY for $200, by the time I diagnosed the problem it was already past their shitty 3 day refund timeline.

Few weeks later bought a second hand used graphics card being sold as new at MSY for $450, returned it in time but cost me ~$60 restocking fee.

After wasting $260 I have finally learnt not to buy at MSY, anything you buy as new there is most likely used and defective.
