What the hell! Ready or not #2

Andrew Jarman, Tim Cook, Brodie Atkinson, Evan Hewitt, Wayne Carey, John Meesen, Brad Moran, Brad Crouch

Crouch has potential, and in 10 years this may all change....but you can't go past Jarman. With or without hair his skills were superb. Unfortunate to be delisted at the end of 96 playing only 1 year with his little brother.....but bloody hell could this guy play.

Jars is the only one worth mentioning. Brad Crouch will be right up there though if he can string a few seasons together.

Agree with the other posters here. AJ is a clear #1 for now. BC might get him in the long run, but injuries have severely limited his output to date.

Still get random nightmares about his missed set shot from 10 metres out in the 93 prelim...

It's terrible that it's my lasting memory of him, but it is what it is..

a champion of the club, although 96 had a bit of a sour end....

Definitely Jarman at the moment, but B Crouch will go past him if he can get his body tight. Jar's Gould seriously play though. He also represents that hard decisions on club stalwarts who are battling at the end of their careers can be made.

Jarman did make the decision a bit easier by refusing to play late in '96

I think I remember that meant he played enough SANFL games to play finals that year - which also meant that Andrew McLeod, who was a late replacement for Jarman when he said he wouldn't play, ended up being one game short and couldn't play SANFL Finals for Port Adelaide.

I was at the '96 Qualifying Final between Port Adelaide and Norwood and everytime Jarman got near the ball, the Port crowd went nuts and booed him



*that's how a 12 year old radiojake remembers it going down.... anyone confirm/correct this story?

Jars was a gun. It would have been good to see another year with his brother in 1997 but the premiership proved the right decision was made and we probably needed a pace injection into the side. I think Crouch with time will knock Jars of the #1 spot but not yet.

Thats the game Hodges kicked Norwood out of the finals wasn't it with a monster goal from the sideline after the siren? Plus with PAFC going into the AFL the following year the band wagoners no doubt did boo Jarman.

No, Hodges kicked the monster goal in the Prelim final - I wasn't at that game, I was in Kadina watching it on TV with my Grandpa - Still remember watching it go through and just thinking '!#*!*!'

I went to the QF at Football Park when all the boos happened...


*though, the Port crowd probably booed him in the Prelim too...

Best player. Wayne Carey. Although we got Duck in his twillight he was still good for us. Was the best player of the 90s. My all time favourite non Crow player. Had he not ran into that goal post we would have won the 2005 flag.

Best Crow. Andrew Jarman. With his brother probably the most sjillfull players we have had.

1. Andrew Jarman - Easy to pick, a club great, shame his career ended the way it did, many wonderful games. Runner up in 95 BnF
2. Wayne Carey - "The King" our best forward over the year and a half he was at the club, taught Perrie, McGregor and Wlesh a lot, shame he had so many injuries and his career finished the way it did, was second in the BnF when he last played, could of played 2005 if he didnt hurt his neck.
3. Brad Crouch - Injuries as well have really hurt him and the club, hopefully that all changes, is a star in the making, could easily be the No.1 2 or so years
4. Brad Moran - Had a decent 2008 and a great 2009 until he got injured and it really hurt us, his career never reached thoes heights again. Wore 18 at North after Carey and 2 at Adelaide after Carey. Born in England.
5. Evan Hewitt - 15 games
6. Tim Cook - 8 games
7. Brodie Atkinson - 5 games
8. John Meesen - 2 games

Wayne Carey is my all time favourite player and the reason why i switched to becoming a Crow supporter as a teen.
But A Jarman is the best to have worn that number for the club.

Fun little fact: Brad Moran was the first player to wear number 18 at North and 2 at the Crows after Wayne left each club respectively.

I remember being so bloody excited when the club picked up Carey (despite what we gave up to get gim), too bad he wasn't playing now, we could have got him for free

He was very solid for us the year and a bit he was there, unlucky to have ran into the goal post and gashed his knee open I think in a game against the Bombers?

But agree with 98% of the posters here, Andrew Jarman was a dead set gun. Again, a little earlier in my time as I was 4 years old in 95, but looking back the bloke could certainly play!.
