Bye Bye Jack

And the blood letting begins. For what it's worth I thought Jack was one of the few in the side who was actually making an effort, I tought he was alright.

You spelt Tyson wrong.

Hardly sighted Walker all night, got a cheap goal from a non-existant free kick and that was about it. Defensively I thought Jack and Rambo kept us in the game in the first half under an avalanche of Adelaide forward 50 entries.
Walked on egg shells a bit with his disposal coming out of the back half, but that's hardly surprising considering it's his first game back and the immense pressure we were under most the game.

calm down. he was no worse than the others...

We were too top heavy both in the backline and forward line.

Goldsack had a disposal efficiency of 33% and coffed up 3 goals and your worried about Anthony's game?

Yeah Anthony wasn't our worst. He should be out for Presti if he is fit which I am sure he will be. A no brainer.

He may or may not leave, but not because of anything he did tonight. Thought he did his job well and provided some telling contests in that first half. The only thing I want Jack to work on is keeping his feet. He goes to ground too easily at times...

He did pretty well tonight i thought, still think they should have had shaw instead of Goldsack handling the kick outs.

Is it just me, or does Jack have the turning circle of a truck?

did Goldsack change his name to Jack?

Seriously, I don't think their should be an blood letting, but Goldy was our worst tonight.

One clear point is that we need one of medders or Davis in the forward 50 keeping the opposition more honest.

Agree JA needs to keep his feet, but otherwise was nonplussed. Will make way for Presti, more time needed down back. Meh.

Goldy had a shocker tonight but he offers far more than Anthony can. I hope its Anthonys last game for us. I'm not normally that negative towards are players but he is not what our team needs.

Agree with the sentiments of Goldsack. Was woeful tonight. The dilemma of mid sized defenders is over...

Jack was terrible! Offered nothing and did nothing. That mark he took 70 metres out and ignored all options only to kick it 40 metres was terrible!! He has not been able to keep up with the Pies improvement and should be traded or delisted at the end of this season.

I think it was a pretty poor choice of game to draw any conclusions from, Anthony didn't play too badly. He was rarely beaten one on one.

Aside from keeping his feet, and a few hospital handpasses, I think it was just another 'notch under his belt' type of game. He'll be all the more better for it.

that was the final straw for me!! i also notice he always goes to ground in a contest, never can keep his feet!!

To be fair I think he was informed there was only seconds left on the clock at that point and decided to take the shot rather than risk having the siren go with the ball in flight. As others have said, if you need a whipping boy there is a certain T Goldsack who was pretty bad, Anthony played alright all up, and he did it coming from a few months in the VFL, remember all the excuses that were made for Medhurst?

Really, Jack was shithouse, but he was played completely out of position.

As long as his arse points to the ground, Jack Anthony will never be an AFL defender, I think that last free kick against him told us that.

Jack is forward line "depth", that is all.

He is never to play past centre for us again, EVER.

That is def his last game with us!! Didn't wanna be out there! What a waste of space!!!
How ridiculous. He is not in Collingwood's best team, and he should be dropped next week, but he has been playing VFL for months, and it's hard to adjust to the greater tempo of senior AFL footy. The reason that Collingwood has great depth is because players like Jack are at the club, and I hope he is there next season.

Some people just can't put their allegiances aside, JA is clearly out of favour with the Pies faithful because he was nowhere near as bad as some a letting on in here. And on the flip side you can tell Goldsack is a protected favourite when he played considerably worse than Jack tonight, yet for some reason JA is the one copping the flak.

Aside from that one contentious free kick tonight (where all our defenders were caught out thanks to a lack of pressure further afield that allowed Rielly to stream down the wing uninhibited for about 50ms) he pretty much dominated Walker, multiple one on one contests he out pointed him, there was nothing to suggest tonight he won't make it as a defender. Quite the contrary in fact.
His disposal coming out of defence wasn't bad either, I can't remember any significant mistakes he made with the ball unlike Goldsack who single-handedly contributed half of Adelaide's score tonight.

Jack and Nate both went flying past Goldsack for the 3rd tall defender role tonight. Too bad some people can't take the blinkers off.

And if losing your feet occasionally was grounds enough to be kicked off the list Ben Reid would have been playing with another club 3 years ago (not that the astute judges who want Jack gone now would have cared considering they were all the same ones that wrote Reid off back then anyway).

Funny how everyone is keen to jump up and down and make excuses for Medhurst as to why he played poorly last week, specifically citing his extended period of time in the VFL. I don't know why Jack isn't extended the same courtesy, especially considering that he played significantly better than Medhurst could manage

With Presti and Reid back, both will be dropped but Goldy will stay because can play on smalls and talls.

John Anthony was very ordinary. It's not like Walker is Riewoldt.

What a disappointing game, i really felt the inability of our tackles to break the ball free and force a turnover or to actually be rewarded with a holding the ball decision cost us enormously.
Agree with the thoughts on either Davis or Medhurst having to play. Sidebottom and Beams are midfielders resting forward, not the other way around.
Wellingham can have shaky games, he played terribly tonight as well. A bit hit or miss at the moment, you can see early in the game if he's going to be ok.

Overall the decision making and ball handling errors from Collingwood were reminiscent of the Melbourne game earlier this season. Where did all the confidence go?

Anyway, happy Sidebottom got back to his best. Likes Adelaide it seems.

My team for week one of the finals barring injury

B: Johnson, Presti, O'Brien
HB: Shaw, Reid, Maxwell
C : Thomas, Pendlebury, Sidebottom
HF: Didak, Cloke, Davis
F: MaCaffer, Dawes, Beams
R: Jolly, Ball, Swan
I: Brown, Toovey, Wellingham, Goldsack

I don't know about Goldsack because I think we need Shaw in the backline. He's in poor form through the midfield. A waste.

Agree Goldsack had some pretty ordinary moments tonight, and I really want Jack to do well because he wears his heart on his sleeve and plays with a lot of passion but he is simply not good enough. He makes stupid decisions does stupid things and is not in the best 6 in the forward line or the best 6 in the back line.

Some people just can't put their allegiances aside, JA is clearly out of favour

So you call Macaffer a choker but think JA has something to offer?

Drug squad is on their way round to clean up your disgusting opium den.

JA is useless. **** him off.
