Hi all,

As some of you may know, I’ve been a doing a fair bit of blogging on the front page. I’ve been keen to do some interviews with interesting personalities in the footy world. So far I’ve managed to get Emma Quayle and Eugene Arocca and those interviews were well received.

But obviously I don’t know all clubs in detail and that’s why I’m posting here.

Who would you like to see interviewed? Who at your mob do you feel has a story to tell that would interest and inform not just readers from your side, but neutrals too?

Obviously everyone would to hear from big names like Lance Franklin or Kurt Tippet or Joel Selwood but the reality is the clubs usually strictly control their media exposure.

What I’m interested in is that something special other people might not know about – a young bloke you feel is set to have a breakout season, perhaps a recruiter with a knack for getting gems late, or even an administrator you feel deserved recognition.

So let’s have some suggestions but please know that although I’ll try my best, I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to get any or all of these.

Thanks in advance.

Jamie

Coming into the draft I reckon John Beveridge would be the best option. Current recuiting advisor, he started with the club in 83 as a development officer and was head recruiter from 1994-2007.

Another one would be Ken Whiffen, St Kilda's head trainer who was a runner in the 66 Grand Final.

David Misson, our conditioning coach (or Elite Performance Manager which is apparently his official title) could provide some insights.

Past players Andrew Thompson and Nathan Burke are currently serving on the board, could be interesting.

Young guns wise Rhys Stanley, David Armitage and Luke Miles are impressive. Clinton Jones had a hell of a year. Or maybe Blake McGrath, our 208cm rookie ruck prospect. I've got high hopes for him (no pun intended), and as a NSW boy you could get his take on Western Sydney.

Don't know about any of you other Sainters but Im not interested in Kurt Tippett. What has he done that would be so inteesting. Being from SA I read "sh it" about him all the bloody time from the clowns at the Advertiser.

I would love you to interview Luke Ball though Jamie as i think most Sainters would.

I reckon Clint Jones could be interesting.
In a few short years he has gone from a mature age WAFL player who didn't quite make the grade for AFL, to a Rookie, to a best 22 player, to a key player in a side that made the grand final.
Would be interesting to hear how he feels about it, his work ethics etc.

Dont think Luke Ball is interviewing anyone right now.

John Beverage could be interesting to all BF readers, because he has been in the game long enough to be able to describe the differences in recruiting then and now.

If you interview John Beveridge, don't just pump up his tyres as I've seen many on here do. Ask him if he considers some of his top ten selections, such as Raph Clarke (8 in 2003), Luke Ball (2 in 2001), Xavier Clarke (5 in 2001) and Cadyn Beetham (9 in 1999) to be good ones, considering only Raph is likely to be at St. Kilda next year and he's a dud.

Maybe you should start a new thread for this, but I'm pretty sure the early picks were not a decision just made by Bevo .

. Who would you have picked instead of Raph, of the nine players picked after Raph , only Brent Stanton and Troy Chaplin are still playing ( of Course you'd have picked one of these two )

. Luke Ball seemed like the cautious pick at the time, and certainly his ealier performances looked like he was going places. Yes hindsite says that Chris Judd would have been better.
. Xavier Clarke was always a good player, Im sure that the Saints should have forseen his injuries , just like Richmond should have seen Polak walking in front of a tram.

From what I understand Bevo had a pretty tight budget, but somehow he managed to survive quite a few changes in the club.

:o -

No, of course not.

Robert Harvey or Max Hudghton would be interesting.

Or Jack Barker.

Or Darrel Baldock.

Or Barry Breen.

Or Warnie.

you could bring back a concept a couple mates and i had a while ago:

"havin' a beer with".

The concept is interviewing people and havin a beer with them.

IWAGD couldn't say no to free booze could they?

Do you only get 1 beer brother?
