Played it for the first time tonight. Dig it so far, i like the whole buying upgrades and contracts and all that sort of thing.
Won't be able to play for a while now because it was my bro's copy, so I'm curious to what I'll think after I play it more.

Connection issues are a ****ing bitch though.

DOA is just about the best thing in this game, but wtf is zork about?

For PC users tap spacebar a few times to get out of the chair in SP

team balancing is god damn ****ing awful seriously wow.

lol interesting next game....not really, bunch of last placed guys versed top ones. ******ed *****.

team balance can suck me, ruins this ****ing game.
Yeah agree, it was something I noticed happens in all COD games to be honest...

It doesn't matter how good you are if you have a team of numpties and the opposition get spy plane after RXCD after care package after spy plane.

Had my first crack at online last night.

Struggled early, haven't played COD for quite some time but it wasn't too bad.

Still encountered a few campers but the worst bit was the team balancing, it happened game after game, very annoying.

Got to level 8 zombies yesterday with some American kids. They were like 13 years old but knew hat they were doing so it was good. When you get to level 5 you open the downstairs door because the hell hounds always spawn at the bottom level so you just sit on the 2nd level of that main room and kill them when they come up the stairs, it's pretty easy if you have everyone who knows what to do but I'd you open up the 2nd level door you're ****ed cos they will spawn there aswell. Couldn't find the mystery box but managed to turn on the power. Zombies is alot more fun than it was in WaW because there is so many options to rooms and stuff.

Had a solid play at MP now and overall it's good. I haven't had any issues with lag but I don't really mind a bit of lag because I played RB6V primarily in american lobbies, so I've sort of adapted to it. So far there have been no connection issues either.

The guns have been nerfed to a good level and the recoil is much closer to what it should be, so it feels like it has a better balance which is the most important thing for a FPS imo. Get the gun play right and then build around it. Harder to clear a room of the opposition in quick succession but that's how it should be.

Team balancing isn't something I really take notice of but I'll have a look at it now since it's being mentioned.

Maps:
Rankings:
1. Jungle
2. Firing Range
3. Grid
4. Summit
5. Cracked
6. Nuketown
7. Array
8. Radiation
9. Havana
10. Villa
11. Launch
12. Crisis
13. WMD
14. Hanoi

Overall the maps are good but slightly disappointing considering they had a whole team devoted to the MP side of things for the first time. Some are too big again and they don't have the same feel as the WAW and the COD4 maps. Even the big maps in WAW were enjoyable for some reason.
Jungle is awesome because it has no dead spots and the flow on the map is circular so it's a lot harder to camp anywhere. Firing range is the perfect size for a map and the majority of maps should be in that small to medium size.

The graphics in game aren't as good as MW2 but there are way more moving objects like the train in WMD, the rocket in Launch, more trees swaying, dust and papers blowing etc. so it's a good trade off imo.

Perks:
Second chance is shocking, my no.1 and probably only real frustration with the game so far. The challenges to upgrade to the pro perks are a good idea but some of them are too hard. Eg. Ghost perk, you need to destroy a sentry gun but I'm up to level 34 and I haven't seen one at all so it's frustrating that you have to rely on the opposition to use a certain killstreak that is fairly rare. Not a big deal but it's an annoyance if you want to prestige.

Much better without jugg, stopping power, martyrdom and all the rubbish ones from MW2. Best perk setup so far in a COD imo.

Menu:
It might just be me but I'm confused with all the menu options. The after game report all the challenges, PB's, contracts etc., it's almost too much stuff. Contracts make no difference to the gameplay for me and some will like them but it's just clutter in the menu for me. I prefer the old style menu's with just:

Create a class - put killstreaks in here.
Challenges
Leaderboards
Playercard - stats and create a logo.

I love the create a logo option. Its like photoshop in COD format.

So overall it's very good because the gameplay is excellent which is the most important element by a long way imo. Now onto SP, zombies and I'll give the wager matches a good go.

I died 8 times in a row trying to sprint through, around and next to an oppositions sentry gun so I could destroy it. So thankful that I got it now...I am level 32 I think and I have had Ghost on the entire time.

Same with Marathon. It took me two nights of solid CTF play to get Pro in a gamestyle I hate, which makes me think your next comment:

...is off the mark.

It's the main frustrating thing I have had in this game, the stupid ****ing Pro Perk system.

If they removed the objective challenges and made some of the other ones less reliant on luck and chance, and more reliant on hardwork and skill, then I agree it would have been the most balanced perk system.

I mean the actual perks. I said in the first paragraph you quoted the pro perk system needs fixing but the actual perks in the game are the best so far. It's enough to have a good variation but not enough to change the evenness of the gameplay.

Ah ok, yeah, the actual perks are good, but I think some of them are useless and need a leg up:

Tactical mask
Hardened
Scout

and even Ninja are not perks, more novelties.

That is the one thing MW2 did so well - variety. Sniping and knifing were a lot of fun, and have been completely taken out of the game.

They could have lessened the commando distance or made commandos more vulnerable to damage or something, also removed the quick scope stuff but IMO kept that overall concept. If you hit someone with an L96 anywhere but the little finger it should kill them, from any distance, and it shouldn't take 3 minutes to level out the scope.

There are two types of players at the moment - SMG rushers and Assault campers. I can actually see TDM getting boring as every game feels the same. It doesn't have that quirky, fun, random side MW2 did/does.

I can't believe I am saying this, but I am actually pining for MW2.

I have always found team deathmatch boring though ever since I started playing cod4, it's just a camp fest. Objectives is where it's at.

Not sure how knifing has been taken out of the game, they have simply made it a bit more realistic, but I've still had plenty of knife kills.

I've played TDM the whole time so far. A few HQ games but I think the basic kill the opposition game is still my favourite gamemode.

Sniping has been nerfed a bit but knifing is just the same as it was in WAW, which is good.

Got to Level 26 on the zombie map "Five" last night with three other mates, quite eventful to say the least as we set up shop in the pack a punch room. As we make sure to leave a legless zombie at the end of a round so we can stock up on perks, find the random weapon box and reset the pack a punch room as it disappears after it is used once.

It does become very hard though once the thief comes into play and steals your guns, but as long he gets killed then everything is fine as he leaves behind a max ammo, fire sale ticket and you get the gun back that he steals from you. It's our best strategy yet and as of last night we sat at rank 80, 81, 82 and 83 in the world (probably changed now).

Prolly should have been a bit clearer RE Knifing.

No one is going to set up a knifing only class in BO's, there is no tactical knife and no commando.

Personally it would have been good to keep it, albeit reduce the commando distance. I suppose the ballistic knife is an attempt at that and I haven't tried it yet but from all reports it pretty much a dud set up.

If you're not running an assault or SMG set up in TDM you're dead weight.

Nuketown is my favourite purely based on the fact i know where i am going (not hard) and i end up doing well because of it. Invite us to a game guys or join the one i'm in, always up for playing. I've only played TDM and i think i'll try give others a go but probably will get owned and revert to TDM.

Forgive the rant last night, its kind of annoying having those team balance issues where it ends up being 7500 to 3300 or something but ah well, should just leave.

Anyway. Is there a way to edit the settings for the headset (got the lame mini official one) can't hear people talk at all.

i dont mind things like marathon pro being hard to get because there borderline overpowered

its better than MW2s use perk for x games and you get pro

Oh fer sure, I don't mind that either, but Ghost is simply pot luck and marathon requires you to play Capture teh Gayness.

You could get a sentry gun to destroy in your first game, or you could not get one until your 100th - it took me 95 games to find one...

As I said I am not fussed about them being hard to get, I am fussed about them being lucky to get or being made to play a game type I don't like...

Agree about the maps, although I don't rate Jungle at all (have found it to play a bit better though on more goes though). Still haven't played enough of all of the maps to give a really good evaluation overall, am still yet to play Launch and only played Handi (;)) last night for the first time.

But simply put the maps just aren't all that good at an average rate from what I have played. There's a few good ones, a few crap ones and a lot of mediocre maps which is disappointing as it really drags down the whole experience which at it's core is VERY tight. Gameplay wise they have it just about down pat and killstreaks are welcomely underpowered and just not in as huge numbers as in MW2 (although RCXD could do with bumping back, just out way too much).

Also because of the abundance of modes it means that generally they won't all be suited. So far I've found Domination to be poorly suited to a majority of maps. I might have to start looking at new modes as honestly I'm not finding Domination the same amount of fun I have in the past (TBH have even been finding TDM better than Domination).

MW2 maps>BO maps so far (COD4 obviously in front of both). But maps were far from MW2's problems.
Perks:
Second chance is shocking, my no.1 and probably only real frustration with the game so far.
2nd Chance was in huge numbers last night, one match the other team pretty much all had it activated. Just a shit of a thing when you take someone down but they're lying there still when you're wanting to move on and have to put another couple of bullets into them or risk someone else stealing your kill.
Menu:
It might just be me but I'm confused with all the menu options. The after game report all the challenges, PB's, contracts etc., it's almost too much stuff. Agree again with the menu set up. There's WAY too much going on.

I love the amount of statistics and all of that but it's way too hard to navigate through the hundreds of menu's and options and different stats and leaderboards going on.

There needs to be a more simplified version somewhere. I miss the overall leaderboard where I can check everyone elses stats.

Makes it really hard to check out the leaderboards in between rounds too. Same goes for attempting to change classes up or buy new guns/perks/attachments, etc. Which comes back to COD Points being REALLY superflous in this game.

There is absolutely NO NEED for COD Points IMO. I get what they were trying to do, but the system to it is all wrong. You either make it that the points are at a level where you have to play for a certain amount to get that many points to buy them or you don't have it at all. Don't have us unlock more and still not potentially be able to buy them, on top of that if you don't like an item you're still stuck with it, could easily add a sell option in.
Prolly should have been a bit clearer RE Knifing.

This is pretty much a good thing. Because it makes the knife exactly what it should be, a close combat 'last resort' or reflex action.

The game is about the guns (and I don't believe at all it's only SMG or Assault that only work, have noticed plenty with LMG's and even a few sporadic snipers do their bidding well).

Honestly fail to see how sole knife classes being taken out is a bad thing.
