The TAB only quotes what people are betting on - and because most of the punters barrack for Australia, most of the money comes for them - but
there are 2 reasons why we're favourites:
- England haven't won a series here since 1987 (not that that means all that much - given we have a vastly different team than we did in 90s/early 00s)
- Australia tends to play much better at home than away

Last time I checked, England were $3.25 to win the series - damn good value IMO
