Fev is only 189cm and bradshaw isnt that tall either. 191 IMO is a nice height for a FF.

I think weve had this discussion before, I agree its the minimum height youd want your FF to be but Fev and Bradshaw make up for a lack of height because they are uber talented good body players. Fev can also take a ball from full stretch at its full height which helps. In saying this Wilson takes allot of marks at WAFL level so im sure some of that skill will translate to AFL level.

A shame for Wilson he will be getting better delivery at South Fremantle than he will at the Eagles. One thing you wil notice straight away is his footy smarts. Finally a forward who times his leads well. Do you remember one of those? I barely do but the WAFL reminded me what a good leading forward actually looks like. Forward line this week should be

HF: Embley Kennedy LeCras
FF: Natanui Wilson Wirra

Brown back in defence where he belongs

Most of that post is fine except the bolded bit.

Brown remains a better forward than defender. Its just that out of Hansen, Lynch & Kennedy he is the only one who can play back - he is fast and athletic - heaven forbid we have such a player in our forward half.

Provides good run of half back. As close to Hunter as we have or are gonna get atm

Nick Riewoldt has provided good run off half back in the past - where would you play him?

I like Browns attacking nature and his desire to take the game on. He remains a better forward than a defender but they won't play him there because we have Hansen and Lynch wandering aimlessly about the forward line.

You really want that priority pick dont you.

I actually think that would be a good set-up. Hansen is a CHF, he played well in that position on the weekend. We need to have him taking marks and setting up goals if he is going to have any trade value. And we NEED to trade him, he won't be around by the time we are back up the top and he will just clog the list in the meantime.

. Hansen is a CHF, .

so's kennedy, not only does josh play that position, but he plays it 10 times better than the cornflake can. all hansens doing right now is getting in the way of people like brown and kennedy who we're trying to develop as forwards.

Whilst I agree that Brown might in the future be a better forward then defender, right now I think he is the best third tall defender we have and I love seeing him create run from the backline. I think right now he is a better defender then he is forward and I dont think it will hamper his growth too much to play him in defence 1/3 games early on in his career.

I like Kennedy at FF more so than CHF, he always contests the ball and hits packs hard. The downsides would be his pace off the mark and his body work, it would be good to plonk him there if we had 1-2 crummers because even when double teamed he still forces the ball to ground.

He seems to be our second best kick for goal from a set shot this year as well which further puts him in the FF category.

Long term Id like to see him at FF.

It doesn't matter if we added Franklin and Brown to our forward line aswell, if we continue to perform poorly in the midfield and our forward entry is slow and inaccurate we still won't get anywhere...

The problem is not up forward. Lecras, Kennedy, Lynch, Mckinley, Hansen, Naitanui, Brown etc are all very competent.

The problem is in the guts; aswell as our ball movement at half-back.

Regardless, fingers crossed Callum Wilson shows something special.

what does this mean for players like ben mckinley?

It means we should send his shoe size to Carlton so that they can order his new boots in advance. :D

Na, I think he will come good next year, there is still room for a FP or a HF player and except for LeCras and Kennedy no other positions in the forward line have been solidified as yet. It just means he will have to modify his game more, mabye get a bit fitter and spend more time down crumming. If he can add some running power to his game and lift his intensity he will become a pretty good HF player.

he's in too, so what does this mean for players like callum wilson?

It means we play a proper sized full forward out of the goal square in Wilson instead of an under sized one like McKinley. Can then play McKinley out of a forward pocket.

Luke also went in for a Ab operation a couple a days ago, due to inflamation was going to be 2 weeks b4 he could start running again anyway..:thumbsu:

I'd run McKinley off a wing for the rest of the year to be honest.

had to be happy with the kid. looked strong all day i thought. a bit of early confidence will serve him well. hope he gets a few more games this year.
