if you made a national squad for something than yes, thats clearly elite. Or a state squad is elite to me.No you don't and yes it does make sense.
You can still play / compete in an "elite sport", just not be very successful, you may not be at the "elite" level but that was NOT specified, just that the sport was elite. Many competitors at the Olympics are in this category.
eg I have competed in an Olympic sport (elite type of sport ?) at applicable national comps (elite level ?) for which honour I qualified, to become a member of the official national squad/team for international events and the Olympics (elite level ?). So is that "elite sport" enough ?
Yet I do NOT consider that I was elite. Mainly because I was absolutely outclassed and well beaten each time.
Therefore I think I am justified in saying that I played / competed in an "elite sport" without being "elite". QED.
Which demonstrates that your analysis and understanding on this is as poor as the rest of your analysis in this thread has been.
so what we're arguing on is the definition of elite. its like saying Beau McCreery for example isnt elite because he's not an elite footballer despite being elite enough to get drafted and be a regular afl player.
