Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Where's Cam's buddy.
I would have thought after his pre-season form that he would have got a write up. Some great marking around the ground, tap work that ranged from average to SENSATIONAL - especially in the fianl with Stevo getting great service (love the little flick over the back).

Needs to improve his field and goal kicking but it may be nerves to an extent.
Was not happy when we took him, but an wrapt now - good on you for making something of a second chance Cam.:thumbsu:

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Cam has been a great pick up for us.

Doesn't have the height, but more than makes up for it with enthusiasm. His ruckwork has improved incredibly as of late.

Is our number 1 ruckman IMO-I'm more impressed with him ATM than Ackland.

The only thing I can say that I am disappointed with regarding Cam is his goal kicking-seems to let himself down, and undoes a lot of his good work.

Has a lot of passion, which is clear to see as he doesn't shy out of contests on the field-that is for sure.

His backwards tap to Stevo in the NAB Cup grand final was simply brilliant.

Hopefully he keeps up the good work which he has shown. Brilliant recruiting by the Blues-very low risk, possible huge reward.

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

I have to say that one of my highlights from todays great win came from Cam Cloke.

Pretty sure it was in the last quarter, near the centre of the ground-Cam got absolutely CRUNCHED-I thought he was out cold immediately-looked very very proppy for a long time.

BUT he didn't give up-trainers around him, he got up off his feet and tried to run to the ball and stop the Essendon players from entering the ball into the forward 50. He couldn't really do it, but just to see him get up after such a hit, was so satisfying for me, and as I said one of the highlights of my day.

The heart and passion he showed was fantastic-Well done Cam.

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

he is showing allot of passion.
he may never be the best ruckman in the league but if he shows that passion and continues to give 100% what more can you ask for.
Should end up being a great second ruckman to Hampson :)

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

I was out watching the Socceroos play last night at a pub in the city, and old man Clokey (David?) was behind the bar, so I took the time to ask him about Cam.

He said he is doing well in his recovery and has returned to a bit of training, which is good to hear.

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

If, by a bit of training means 1 on 1 kicking, then he's spot on :) :p

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

When asked today how the boys turned up Ratten made some comment about one of the guys who had surgery not presenting in the best of shape, but otherwise they were 99% happy with how everyone came back.

I wonder if he was talking about:

Maybe a bad angle but Cam isn't looking in the best shape here.:(

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

That's the understatement of the century.

I'm getting flashbacks of Lance.

I like cam and ive stated on this board earlier i would of kept him over richrads but that was his porblem at collingwood too, always overweight, yet so much talent.

I hope that shot above answers the question from the other thread.

Ratts indicated that maybe he wasn't 100% happy with how one of the players who had surgery presented...........Cam will need to work his butt off this year. Aisake i closing behind him and is a much better athlete, as is Hampson........and once those boys get some rucking under their belts Cam could find himself out of a job.

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

K im Cam's buddy for 2008. Blueseum lists him at 196cm, 98kg. Born on December 20, 1984. Wears the number 28 for us and made his debut for us in Rnd 1, 2007.We all know of his past injury problems, mainly to his shoulder, but hopefully he can play 22 games for us this year.

He had an average opening round in 2008 IMO. 14 possesions, 16 hitouts, 3 tackles, and 3 Free Kicks awarded. Champion Data rated him reasonably well. I thought his work around the ground was alright, but his tap work was pretty poor. I noticed that even when he had beaten his opponent hands down, and was in the perfect position, he still very rarely tapped it to our advantage. Hopefully he'll have a great 2008 and forget about his injury problems, but he'll definately struggle to hold the mantle of Number 1 Ruckman ahead of Hampson IMO

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Round 2 stats - 18 possessions, 9 marks, 7 hitouts...

Thought he had a pretty good game. Moved well around the ground, found the ball a lot, and used it pretty well. I'm still not happy with his tap work though. Only managed 7 hitouts comapred to Gardiner's 20 and King's 18

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Rnd 4 stats: 14 possessions, 5 marks, 15 hitouts, 3 tackles, 2 free kicks awarded

I thought he had another decent game today. Although Fraser probably was winning too many taps to advantage, Cloke got some good taps in there too. He was also good around the ground once again

There was an awsome moment during the game lol. Think it was 2nd quarter, Travis Cloke gave away a 50, so his brother Cameron got up in his face. Was hilarious I reckon. Some real brotherly love lol

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

I reckon he was very good today. I like him and think he adds quite a bit to the team.

You're right WBWDW it was funny as ____ when Cam gave his brother some lip after the 50m penalty!

Saw that too! Good on ya Cam!!!

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Round 5 stats: 19 possessions, 10 marks, 7 hitouts

Another excellent game from Cam. He's playing awsome this year. As some people have said in other threads, I don't think he's ever played a bad game for this club (including last year before he got injured). He was once again very impressive on Sunday.

His tapwork still probably isn't good enough (White dominated Cloke and Kreuzer in the hitouts - White got 24), but Cloke's work around the ground made up for it

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Round 6: 14 possessions, 6 marks, 9 hitouts, 1 goal

I could only listen to the game on the radio, but the impression I got was that he had an excellent first half, but then, like most of our boys, faded out in the second half.

Once again his work around the ground was very good, but didn't accumulate enough hitouts, with a lighter, and less experienced ruckman in Griffin amassing a massive 35 hitouts, along with 13 possessions. I like Cloke, but he really shouldn't be getting beat so badly by someone like Griffin imo.

One interesting fact I read this week was that although Cloke probably doesn't get enough hitouts, he is ranked right up there in the league for Hitouts To Advantage. That's a real good effort I reckon, and frankly, surprises me a bit. If he can get more hitouts a game, with his high hitout to advantage percentage, it could really help the team

BTW, the goal he kicked was an absolute gem. Even won the coverted Mike and Dan Play of the Week ;) Ball was bouncing around in our goalsquare amongst a pack of players, and Clokey just took a swipe and it sailed through

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Round 7 stats: 10 possessions, 9 hitouts, 1 goal

Bit of a quiet game for Clokey. Cox pretty much slaughtered both our ruckmen last night. 44 hitouts to 19. Cloke's movement around the ground is good enough, but week after week we are getting smashed in the hitouts. Someone's gotta find a way to get Cloke to jump higher lol

Re: 28. Cameron Cloke

Hammer needs to become a roughneck like Jamie Charman so Clokey doesn't have 2 take all the beatings in the ruck. Cam to become pinch hitter, Hammer and Kreuz with the main duties. Not yet of course.
