According to The Age, ex-Central Districts player Cameron Faulkner will be offered up during this week's trade period (along with Shane Birss).

He's a snappy little forward. He's only 22. Only played 17 games in 4 seasons at the Doggies. Been tough for him, I guess, to get a game at the Bullies ahead of other small forwards such as Robbins, Johnson, Giansiracusa, etc, etc.

I seem to recall James Fantasia highly rating him (and even comparing him to Macca) back in 2002 when he was first drafted.

I haven't seen alot of this bloke, so...thoughts?

Would be a disaster if we got him for anything more than pick 64.

I think it was John Reid (will stand corrected on that) who said at the time the bulldogs had got themselves a future superstar and did indeed compare him to McLeod.

We need a quick half-forward, Faulkner is that. I've only seen him play a handful of times, think I recall a period of games last year when he looked OK and seemed to have established himself but went backwards after that.

Looks like the bulldogs need an extra pick to get both Akermanis and be able to trade for another tall. Third rounder? would do that but probably won't be enough, second round is probably what they are after but I wouldnt be happy with that.

Would be worth a third round pick or part of a package deal.

Shown a bit on the field of play for the Doggies but looked like he couldn't find find any rhythm for a permanent spot, maybe back home among family & friends could see an improvement.

Do we need another fringe player?

Seeing as we are attempting to trade some of them, I'd suggest not.

Yes, but it's safe to say that he or anyone at the Crows would no longer make that comparison. He is 22 and still has not established himself. It's time to let go of that comparison.

Good point. :thumbsu:

If we can pick him up for a third rounder, I would take the punt. The games I have seen he has played, he is quite handy around the stoppages. Has a decent frame. Skills are ok, maybe he just needs a change of scenary.
Does anyone know if he is contracted or not??

Don't think the Doggies would let him go for our 3rd rounder, pick 48 I think, unless they were desperate for another pick in the draft after trading picks for Aker.

In a normal draft year he is porbably worth around pick 28, this years draft probably 35 ish.

Fair point. I would be reluctant to give pick 32 up for him, unless we we got a higher pick some where along the lines and then I probably would have my doubts.

I wouldn't give up our pick 32 for him even though he is probably worth it! You would be kicking yourself if you traded away your 2nd pick and a quality player fell through the first round of the draft and you could pick him up. Would be different if you had two 2nd round picks though.

Maybe Skipworth and our 3rd rounder, but we are probably doing better out of that, and not sure how Skippy would fit into Dogs game plan, maybe getting the ball and feeding it out to their runners, ie. Brett James like.

For Skipworth maybe.

Come Wednesday or Thursday some stupid Melbourne club maybe willing to give up a late second round pick for him. Brisbane, Carlton, Sydney or North Melbourne would be a good fit for him.

Much to Roosterlad chagrin Skipworth is good enough to play consistent AFL football. Saying that I very much doubt he would be awarded AA selection

Given our need to inject some pace, Cam would be worth considering for a later pick or a fringe player. He may just need a change of environment to bring the best out of him.

Stop stealing my thoughts Kane. :)

Problem with Skipworth is he is solely a midfielder. He is not the sort of player you can play on a shorter forward in the back pocket, or play of a HBF (too short). He needs to be in a team that is crying out for midfielders. That said, I think he would be a fantastic pick up for North. Maybe for their 4th rounder.

No strong interest.

He averages 6.5 disposals per game and a half a goal a game.

As someone else said, we're trying to get rid of fringe players, not get them.

I think its more a case of some coaches can't bring the best out in players and some coaches can. NC has done it with a few where others couldn't.
