Just loved having the chance to see him live last night.
Hill has been in awesome form , is great above his head and lightning quick - Guthrie just applied himself with 100% concentration and took the honours whilst being a great attacking option on the rebound.
One spoil off 2 steps showed how high his spring is , great athlete.
Totally agree with the poise comments , also has the skills to back it up as well , absolute lock in the 22 as far as I'm concerned. :thumbsu:

Yeah no probs.
Thurlow is a difficult one. I'm not sure where he is going to fit in.
To me he still seems to get pushed off the ball too easily to hold a back line position. And he seems dangerous up forward.

Patience VC...Thurlow is just a kid in his first year....when he improves his core strength he'll hold a half back position down with ease. Looks like he can play from what I have seen.

I have no doubt he can play.

Corey Enright didn't need to become part of the midfield rotation. :thumbsu:

Agree Ricketts - Im sure however that even since Boris came to the club the game has evolved now to be such MF dominated game that everyone with the exception of the FF and FB it seems rotate thru the middle.

I guess the smaller CHF and CHB types will now be expected to at least have the capacity to rotate thru as well, even if it is not their primary job. Just adds another dimension to the 22.

Other thing I forgot to mention is that it is really standing out how strong he is in a tackle and when laying a tackle. He makes them stick.

I noticed that first in the VFL when he came back from injury early this year how much stronger he looked. It's really noticeable now, as you say his tackles stick, and he's able to break tackles much better than previously.

You can build clubs around guys like him. He's becoming a rock-solid small defender, and he seems to be getting better as a tagger as well. Very, very useful to have two strings to your bow like that. No wonder Scott loves him.

Is getting better all the time. He still has not played 50 senior games - and he will be an automatic selection very soon.

Is a good mark, has reasonable pace, good decision maker and follows the GFC team plan. The sort of reliable player that you just over time come really love.

Pretty confident he's automatic now.

Reminds me of a latter day Bomber Thompson, as a player that is, only a select few of us could remember that far back, but CG is a beauty.

He is already good and going to get better. Just does all the little things right and best of all makes great decisions when he has the ball. 100% disposal efficiency last night.

AGAIN. Does it every week (the 100% DE I mean) and it isn't because he just swings 30m behind the contest, a lot of his disposals are in tight with the ball there to be won, he is just so poised and clean with his disposal.

Will make # 29 as popular as it once was for GAJ. Big call I know but Cam is building a base like Boris did - but earlier in his career.
Very assured in his actions and great decisions....

i wonder if there was any idiots who got rid of their #29 jumper? looking pretty dumb now!:)

Really good to se Guthrie's development over the season. Each year he has got better and better and now he is considered by many to be Best 22. It has taken under 40 senior games - so a very good achievement IMO.

He gets added to Duncan, Bundy and Motlop as definite very good senior players going forward from the young brigade.

THunt was part of that group but is currently not best 22 anymore - so unfortunately not sure about him presently.

Caddy is not far away from being another new guy (with less than 40 games) becoming a best 22.

We will probably know by next season's end who else will join that group.

Maybe THunt will return to the seniors and join them.

Then there is Blicavs (18 senior games currently), Billy Smedts (27), Dawson Simpson (11), Jordon Murdoch (18), Nathan Vardy (18) and GHS (11). All will get games next season and have a chance to join the best 22 if good enough. Reckon Simpson if he continues to develop as he was this season and remains uninjured will be a very likely candidate for best 22 by 2014 seasons end.

With the retirement of Corey you would think GHS is also a good chance to become best 22 next season. But you never really know until they play enough senior games and show a fair bit.

We may yet get a surprise or two with players like Jackson Thurlow (4), George Burbury (2). Shane Kersten (0), Jesse Stringer (11), Josh Walker (9) and Mitch Brown (10). You would think most would get a game or two over the 2014 season and you never know. I like the look of Thurlow and people are raving about Kersten.

You would think we will need add at least 2-3 new best 22 players next season for us to maintain our youth policy and development as a strong club into the future.

I think the money will be on Simpson, GHS and Vardy to join Cam Guthrie as best 22 next season - and maybe Blicavs (just need to find a more permanent position for him to learn and play).

Can someone help me i dont see anything in him.is there something i dont see?

Yep, he's a 200 gamer who needs to become part of our midfield rotations ASAP. Rd 1 2014 at the latest. Preferably next Saturday night. Silky skills. Great feel for the game.

So what was the point of the whole naming Taylor Hunt thing? Waste their time planning that we would use him tagging Hill or something? Pointless.

I guess with Enright injured the door is ajar for Josh Hunt and Guthrie in a finals side after everyone speculating it was one or the other all year.

We need him down back IMO. Terrific small defender who can kill teams on the rebound. Would like to see him attack more at times though, like Mackie or Enright do.

Problem is we need two of him. We need one playing as a small defender, and one playing in the middle as a tagger. He'd probably learn that just as quickly. And perform it in the most unglamourous (and therefore unnoticed) way possible - calmly, without fuss, and very effectively.

I thought he was going to be good. I correct that after Saturday. He is going to be an absolute gun.
