Nobody else has been game to throw it out there, not sure if its because most of us think he just isnt very good, or we dont want to moz the poor little head case, but the bolter of 09 will be Richard Tambling.

Could be blind hope, but with the spotlight on the return of Cogs, the arrival of Cuz, the expected dominance of Lids, the swan song of richo and a fit chubby inducing Cotchin..... He may just be able to start slipping under the guard and tearing teams new arseholes similarly to what he does to team mates in intra clubs. Now that most of the expectation has died down I reckon he might just go bang. Contrary to what most think I would still argue he has steadily improved every year and will take it to a new level this season.

I agree with you Rooster Tambling gets hammered on this forum he has been getting better each year I do hope this is the year of the BLING:thumbsu:

tw was on 927 this morning they talked about richie with the coach suggesting now his apprenticeship was over he needed to find his right spot in the side....I tend to think he looked most damaging running off the HBF...was interesting to hear the comment that they needed to get 100 games under his belt and perhaps he MAY have been better served to have spent the first 25 of those at Coburg...wont make the same mistake with lil buddy:thumbsu:

UNless something bad happens to richo, this aint his swan song year.

He's fit, running hard, and he's devoid of career threatening injuries. Oh, btw, did you see how many votes he get in the brownlow last year. Does it look like he wants to hang up the boots yet?

What other stuff did he say?

I'm going with the last four years of richo's career being a big dirty swan song as he gallops around the wings doing as he pleases. every extra year we now get out of richo we should be thankful of.

Lids reckons he will play till he is 40! Only 7 years till retirement Richo.

Will the real 'Bling' shady please stand up!?!? :D

Blingers will be a solid contributor in 09. Has found his spot at half back and will be a very important cog in quickly turning defence into attack.

I think Tambling will become almost as good as GAblett jnr. I actually think he'll become as good, but won't say that publically. Oops .

He's followed a similar pattern to Jnr in his career thus far; started out as a forward pocket/HFF, went to midfield, and hasn't hit his straps yet, but steadily improves each year. Always bagged by fans and opposition alike early in careers for not doing enough, wasted pick etc. Watch out for Tambling come 2010/11. And walah, it just happens to be as Richmond are vying for a flag. The stuff of wet dreams!!!

i think this year bling will break out a bot...
look at players like davis and mc leod etc there first few years were slow but eventually once they were in the system a couple of years they really came through... he has the brains and skills to make a good footy player... also i agree with one of the above threads that he should play off HB cos he looks good there... his game against the lions in our come back was one of his best

I watched our first round game against Freo the other night and Richo had a blinder with his first game on the wing. The funny thing was that Tambling actually played a better game than him but every one was just so excited for Richo.

Tambling will be fine. He's filling out more and more each year and will turn it on this year. The best thing is he will improve even more in 2010 and then again in 2011.

I do like to see him of the back flank but he would be awsome in the forward line also. He's got the ability to kick really magic goals and would go great down there.

Tambo hasn't been that bad to date. The comparisons to Buddy he's had to live with have made judging his worth pretty ridiculous.

He has by no means been a star but is starting to get there imo. His mvoe to the back half was good for him, looked at home back there. I think its a confidence thing with Richie, I honestly believe if he had the same sort of mindset as Buddy he would be tearing it up. Has looked a million dollars at time but not worth a quid at others. But I have faith in him.

Once he truly gets that self-belief, he will be a very good contributor:thumbsu:

Bling has some sought of groin soreness so i'm not sure that he's having the best preseason which is what is usually needed for a player to have a break out season. I'm hoping he gets more time on the HBF. He looks best behind the ball. Ducks and weaves, uses his pace and he can utilise his overhead strenght and leap.

give tambling a run in the middle to start of with. if 1 person says keep him at half back every says keep him at half back. if he fails in the middle the play him in defence.

:)IMHO, Bling will see limited time in the midfield. We have Deledio, Cousins, Foley, Tuck, Cotchin, possibly Coughlan and Brown and maybe Connors and Edwards all competing for midfield time, with the likes of Polo, White and Jackson in the mix as well as taggers.
I'm sure Bling will be given the odd stint here and there, but his best bet seems down back. And I expect him to have a decent year!

If playing inconsistent football and popping up when the game is won or lost is what everyone on here calls progress... then we might be able to see Richie deliver in 2020.

Lets put a little reality into it... the boy has under-achieved. Nothing suggests that anything other than his mates stepping up to hide his poor form will happen and that's the only way he can supposedly improve. What a joke.

When a bloke has to use his team mates to either (a) take the better players, leaving them to play on 3rd tier scrubbers, or, (b) be thrown into a makeshift position to get some level of performance, then that AINT progress.

Particularly for pick number 4! Forget the aboriginal good-natured who-har Richie and concentrate on delivering. ;)

dude, for a number 4 pick that supposedly came with all the bells and whistles, this statement is pretty damning. Find his right spot in the side? LMAO...yeah ok, we await the results of what spot is found. Take a look at the class of 2004 and the who was picked before him and after him and see if they had to "find their spots". ;)
