If Burton had played that exact same game in Hawthorn colours people would be saying he is an okay half back flanker who is incredibly injury prone and can't stay on the park.

His best year is still 2017 and yet people downplayed him that year and despite being older and more injury prone since people are rating him higher.

You’re projecting - can we conversely say if you trade Day back to SA at the end of next year and he becomes a good AFL player you’ll be trying to undermine him too?

No idea why anyone thinks he hit his peak in 2017. He’s still a young player with plenty of improvement left provided he can stay injury free.

Bugger that.

My team has had twenty years of misery. Now time for others to feel the pain of mediocrity.

Seeing Sydney and Hawthorn near the bottom is joyous. Let them stay there for years to come.

Carlton supporters are used to Carlton being mediocre, but Hawthorn supporters are struggling to adapt with their team’s unraveling, and it’s no more evident than some of the delusions created by Hawthorn supporters over the past few years in these threads.

Kennett puts a use-by date on Clarkson’s time at Hawthorn

Alastair Clarkson has played a straight bat after Hawthorn president Jeff Kennett said the Hawks were likely to part ways with the four-time premiership coach when his contract expires at the end of 2022.

Hawthorn’s future appears increasingly rocky after they slumped to a third straight loss, losing by 43 points to a resurgent Melbourne at Sydney’s Giants Stadium on Sunday.

The Hawks have a 3-4 record with a percentage of just 78.6 and face fellow strugglers Sydney at the SCG next Saturday. Hawthorn’s pain was exacerbated by an ankle injury to versatile tall Tim O’Brien.

Clarkson’s future at the Hawks has come under scrutiny in the past week, with premiership Hawk Jordan Lewis telling SEN he questioned whether Clarkson was the man to take Hawthorn forward.

Clarkson is contracted for another two seasons, and Kennett said on Sunday that the Hawks weren’t planning on sacking the coaching great. But the president flagged a used-by date for the coach during his radio interview on 3AW.

“We won’t be sacking Clarko, Clarko won’t be sacking us, when the times comes he and we will come to an agreed position and I suspect it will be at the end of this contract,” Kennett said.

Hawthorn had no answers for a strong Demons side who move towards the eight, as Hawks lose three in a row

Clarkson responded diplomatically after the loss.

"I didn’t even know he said anything. We’ll work our way through that - hopefully it’s a little way off yet,” Clarkson said, while flagging the injection of more youth into the Hawks’ lineup.

“As long as there’s a silver lining and some blue sky for us, we’ll continue to search for it. We know it’s just going to take a roll of the sleeves type of mentality.”

Demons coach Simon Goodwin was upbeat after his side’s second straight win

I am not saying he has hit his peak. I am saying his best year to date is 2017 and at the end of that year most neutral supporters were telling us his is just a half back flanker with decent foot skills. We were told it is the easiest position in the AFL to play. We were also told his leg injury was still a massive concern.

He has not developed since 2017 absolutely is still the best footy he has played, he has struggled to stay fit since and yet people are rating him higher.

Don't get me wrong i still wish him all the best, i was a huge fan of him and he didn't try to leave or anything so i have no bad blood. I also couldn't care less about the dick measuring contest on who wins trades.

Objectively he is seeming to be on a very similar trajectory at this point in time to Scrimshaw.

I could find the same delusions from Carlton supporters about the Blues list over the past decade, every supporter looks at it's own list with rose coloured glasses. Give it a rest with this Hawk fans are delusional. All 18 clubs are the same.

Good luck with that. He’s contracted.
Wouldn’t be my club looking. If the Hawks keep going south though, the list is going to need an overhaul. Clarko probably isn’t the man at this stage of his career to stick around for the 5 years to do it. A mutual parting of ways for a new voice isn’t out of the question. He’s been there an enormously long time, every coach moves on eventually.

Surely it’s not as enjoyable as watching the Footscray’s vice captains off field actions recently! Or Footscray’s entire history as a footy club 😂😂😂😂😂😂!!!!!!!!!
Just as enjoyable as watching your current captains on field actions.

Gotta laugh at Hawks fans blowing their load over Will Day. Whenever a player under 25 shows something they lose their shit. 90% of footy clubs have about 12-15 blokes as young and talented as he is. If he’s all you’ve got to take out of another huge loss than you’re in a world of trouble.

Ohhhhhh Worpel now I know ..... the youngest B&F winner at the Hawks since Lethal Leigh. Surely you can’t write him off yet being so young. If you did sides like North would be in liquidation!
That’s him. Did he stay home in Victoria with his trophy?

Jesus Christ we are also the only fan base that aren’t allowed to get excited over a young kid.

we’d need three four five or more coaches in succession if we go like Carlton and Melbourne in rebuild

let me get this right. People are recommending removing a coach and replacing him with a poorer version. And don’t listen to Kennett. He replaced himself and ended up returning
