Jack, Laidlaw and Phillips (if he can get strong enough) look the three most likely to inject something more through the middle in the medium term. Though of course, Jack isn't available to play at the moment.

If that were an option, I suspect the club would have already taken it. On Saturday's form (in both games) I'd have him down as the number one player most likely to come into the senior team if he were available.

My guess is that those nominated rookies have to be nominated at the start of the year. And at least part of their salary counts towards the cap and there was a suggestion that recruiting Everitt stretched the club close to its limits.

For me, Buchanan has been the big disappointment of the season. Other than the Bombers game, where he worked his backside off but butchered the ball, he's barely had a decent game and his intensity has been well down. I reckon he must be a long way from fit because he worked so hard so consistently for the past two or three seasons that I find it hard to believe that he suddenly can't be bothered. He's a very handy player but he doesn't have enough tricks in his book to warrant a spot if he's not fully fit.

I agree Buchanan has been a massive disappointment. I cringe when he does touch the ball these days and thos snaps for goal usually hit the post or go out on the full. He isnt doing what he is there to do.
