Mostly im never over cricket season by now but im too excited about next years season, I think alot of our players will be at a perfect age now to have a huge impact and hopefully get our long awaited premiership. Ablett will be used to having someone hanging off him permantley and ready to break some more games open hopefully playing more of a midfield role. Steve Johnson seemed to take the media attention well in the later part of the season and responded to his off field trouble by playing some great football, James Bartel James Kelly Cam Ling Paul Chapman along with Joel Corey (more confident than ever) Gary Ablett Corey Enright combining with King Ottens and Chambers will i feel make us one of the most exciting football teams to watch...and we will come close to being one of the most talent filled midfields in the afl. Also with Monica back and Byrnes Tenace and Varcoe carrying the football through the wings will add to our team alot with byrnes and tenace having a couple of years in the system should see them adding even more to our center line, with all these players it should make it easy for the likes of Ottens Nablett Kingsley Johnson etc in the forward line, we have the right mix to be moving the ball very quickly into the forward line which puts alot of pressure on the opposition backmen. And as always Scarlett will be reliable and i feel mooney could push for all australian chb this year if kept there. thought id get it off my chest and just wanna say get excited for a big year for our boys and lets all get behind them 100 percent.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING YOU SAID

except this
Gary Ablett Corey Enright combining with King Ottens and Chambers
- you do know we traded Chambers right?

I am really looking forward to next season though. I am loving the Hockey over here but hopefully I have a reason to fly back to Melbourne next September.

I've also been counting down the days.

It's around about 100 days now!!!! That means its about 50-60 days until the intra clubs matches kick off and i know i will be there because am missing footy way too much this year!

Carn the catters!

Agree with everything posted, and hope for a fit king and ottens and i think everything else will fall into place around them.

playfair having a big year at CHF will be vital

This position is the key to the hopes of the side. Hopefully we don't get beaten in a final that we should have won like the last 2 years due to lack of conversion.

As for the rest of the side we can mix it with any other side going around.

The forwards must stand up when it counts, not in the first 5 or so rounds.

The pressure is firmly on Kingsley Gardiner and Playfair as another shocker when it counts could have them down the pecking order behind Ottens Mackie Nablett and Hawkins come 07.

I dont think there is any pressure on Kent, he has been our best forward for the last 2 seasons. I thinnk there will be less pressure on him with say Otto, Nablett, Johnson and Playfair in the forward line he may get the 3rd or 4th defender. I say less pressure on Kent and more on Otto and H.

Pressure on Kent to perform on the big stage after kicking 1 or 2 goals in 4 finals over 2 years. Another poor effort in finals will be dire for him regardless of how many he kicks during the year.

So, say he kicks 50 or 60 goals again next year, we make the finals and he goes missing again. You're saying you think he'd be given the flick?

I guess it doesnt matter who kicks them as long as we win. For memory Barry Hall didn't kick many in the finals. If Kent kicks another 50-60 i will be more than happy, so long as we win finals.

Wouldn't get the flick as no other side would want him.

Sydney only need 9 goals to win games as we may need 15 or 16.

The swans have on ballers who can kick multiple goals. We don't.

kingsley is fine, get another forward to stand up and kingsley to play second fiddle the supporters would get behind him, he's not and never will be a prime target, i think he has done extremly well over the years for the cats. i agree he can be frustrating but we expect him to kick 5/6 because we havn't had any other forward options, but he is never going to be the match winning key forward, he is a leading forward and thats all. h at chf and ottens at ff are the two we need to stand up, make the job alot easier for kingsley, he is getting the number one backman each week.

Jude Bolton 24 games 3 goals
Brett Kirk 26 games 6 goals
Luke Ablett 25 games 9 goals
Paul Williams 19 games 5 goals
Amon Buchanan 26 games 14 goals

Total - 120 games 37 goals

James Bartel 24 games 18 goals
Joel Corey 21 games 5 goals
James Kelly 24 games 13 goals
Cameron Ling 23 games 11 goals
Peter Riccardi 22 games 15 goals

Total - 114 games 62 goals

We don't get enough goals from midfielders but your Sydney comment is full of ******** Jack.

* Chapman/Ablett/SJ and O'Keefe/Davis/Schneider are predominately forwards.

i to am excited about next year but a few comments on our chances.

First our forwards are the key, as stated i am not interested in our players putting in good efforts during the regular season and failing come finals time.

The whole forward line must stand up esp Kinsgley, playfair etc as finals football is whats its all about and esp with kent so far he has failed to deliver when needed which has proven costly.

Near enough isnt good enough no more and i won't be getting carried away or that excited to i see a flag in our hands, anything else is unacceptable.

But the forwards r the key and i don't want to see what has happened the last 2 finals losses again, our backs work there arses off and our midfield isa very good but we do lack some polish up forward when it matters most, hopefully that cahnges next year and we will all be happy

go cats

della!

Is that when Henry starts playing full forward because Hawkins has arrived? :D

Did Sydney win the flag or Geelong ????

It is simple we did not win anything again because we could not kick goals when it counted. But just carry on being content finishing 4th and 5th and falling short due to the same reason every year and keep getting your hopes up. The same area of the field lets us down under pressure, why don't we try something different if it fails again.

No wonder every other club thinks we are content to come close.

I stand corrected.

By the way Barry Hall kicked 4 against St Kilda, 2 out of 8 in the GF, so his finals were not that bad. 8 in four games compared to kent 1 in 2 games.

We've been over this a thousand times so I don't intend to argue the point again, but I don't believe for one second that we didn't beat Sydney because of our forwards. We were seconds away from beating them ffs.

You must be joking.

Did you watch the same game !!!!

If Nablett and Ottens played instead of any 2 of Kingsley/Gardiner/Playfair we win the game comfortably.
