Why is Bock not often mentioned when we talk of Goody's successor? Truck and others talk about how he is the glue that holds our defence together, he provides run from the back line, is the reigning B&F winner and is our most recent (and most likely our next) AA representative.

Obviously the bashing his girlfriend allegation from earlier in the year will hinder him (as most assume Thommo's drink driving did when Goody was announced) but surely he must be in the mix.

Good call, Crows Feet.

Time heals all wounds... including damage to handbags. So maybe there's hope for him.

But he was never mentioned as a potential leader before the incident earlier this year anyway. I wonder why that is? Have there been other handbag incidents that have been hushed up with $5000 pay offs? Forget Carlton... maybe the REAL story floating around AFL circles is handbagate.

The only way Bocky will be skipper is to get himself a boat. :)

As Carl says he wasn't really in the mix before the incident with his girlfriend. That latter incident is enough to ensure that he will never be in the mix for captain.

Being a gun player doesn't mean you're captain material.

Lots happens on and off the field that we are not privy to as supporters.

Captains are players who can address their troops and motivate them to go further than the otherwise would be able to. Players who can make the hard calls, lead by example (nothing wrong with Bock here), have the team first always, interview really well, and countless other attributes that we don't know about the players.

Bock is the general in defence, yes, he marshalls the troops and shows them where to be, but he could just be a very good defensive co-ordinator.

It's not a shot at someone saying they might not be captain material, some people are just naturals.

The incident with his girlfriend did him no favours, but it doesn't really seem like he was aiming for the captaincy before that.
From the outside he looks like a strong leader in defence, but perhaps he's better off left to do what he does naturally without the extra burden of captaincy, with other candidates putting their hands up.

Is it possible to get the leadership part of Roo's brain transplanted into Dangerfield? :D

Because he looks too much like Dewey from Malcolm in the Middle.

By all reports Dangerfield already has great natural leadership potential.

Off field dramas set completely aside, he is actually currently the most undisciplined Crow on the field. Gives away more ridiculous free kicks and 50m penalties than any other Crow. This honour use to go to Scott Thompson who has since reformed.

He averages like 1 free against a game.

Well if we talked competition wide, he is hardly undisciplined at all.

But as far as Crows players are concerned he gives away the most undisciplined frees, not necessarily the most frees. This is my observation anyway.

Actually up until round 12, Tippett has given away the most frees with 19

He has also been on the receiving end of free kicks for 17 times (also the most for a Crow)

Stats for this year only of course....

VB was on Channel 9 tonight and they asked him whether he would like to be the next Crow captain.

VB looked very eager about this one saying that he definitely would - after Goody finishes his reign as skipper

Want it?? He was nearly bursting for it!! :)

He's the man for the job alright!! :thumbsu:

You often hear people saying humility is a key ingredient of leadership but I've always disagreed - I think people that are willing to recognise their abilities and take advantage of them are the people who lead the best.

VB clearly recognises that he has leadership potential and isn't going to back down from it, and if that's combined with a desire to lead, it's a very good sign :thumbsu:

He might have to hang on for a while... according to Craig, Goody's going to play 300 for the Crows! That's at least another two seasons! ;):D

I don't think Goody would captain his final year I would've thought, let him have his final year stress free!:thumbsu:

If Goody is gonna play 300, surely we'll have the record for most 300 game milestones within a single decade (if we don't have it already)
