Richmond has appointed star midfielder, Trent Cotchin, as its new captain.
The dual Jack Dyer Medallist replaces Chris Newman, who stood down as skipper at the end of the 2012 season, after four years in the role.

Congrats Cotch!! He's the obvious choice for captain. Lids was the obvious choice for Vice-Captain as well. They weren't trying to hide it too much though. The Richmond website has THE ROAR IS BACK with Cotch and Lids all over it so maybe this was their "subtle" way of announcing early.

Anyway, Cotch is a superstar and will show the leadership aspect officially next year.

But in all seriousness, the kid and lets not lose sight of that, the kid, is carrying the grand stand for the tigers. Not that I have any doubt that he can, but all i can say is, Dusty and any other wannabe ****wits...take heed...get behind the Cotch and dont **** it up...he will lead the tigers into battle and leave it all on the field to get what we are after...so back him with everything..

Obviously going to happen but good to see it announced early and for Lids to get the recognition he deserves as VC.
Good to see a new era going forward with Cotch to create his own legacy with his number 9, hopefully it will be as revered as the 17 in the future.
