On one hand, beggars can't be choosers, and it isn't as though Hawthorn/Brisbane/Sydney never received a priority pick.

On the other, that's how you win hearts and minds; you take it on yourself to claw it back, earn the respect of the competition by doing it the hard way.

It's a good news story, if nothing else. It does trouble me, though, if we're doing it for the look rather than admitting we are actually that bad this year.

I cannot stress this enough; Kane Cornes is like any other troll in existence, but with one exception. He is paid to do it.

By discussing his point of view, by retweeting him, by listening and responding to him with the outrage his commentary is designed to evoke, you are empowering him and ensuring that he gets to keep doing it. You are safeguarding his career.

Ignore him. You'll have better blood pressure, and eventually he'll have to change tack or leave the industry.

What I really love from the club this year is the show of unity, in the face of inherent ramblings from certain sections of the media.

They want us to succumb to the pressure. However we aren' t backing down in regards to our plan, our list, bolts etc.

We'rr showing strength in a time of weakness, and many can' stomach that.
