Anyone else notice the headline of Sliding Doors on the AFL site has changed from this morning?

This morning when I viewed it the headline mentioned something negative about the MRC then on viewing it after work it’s now a negative headline on Carlton.

Pressure from above?

Probably from Slobbo and Ralph Mouth trying to divert some pressure away from their beloved Bombers this weekend when they go up against the young Lions.

That Jake Niall article on the age about Bolton is not helpful at all, but sadly it's part and parcel of the industry

It's a bit of lazy journalism comparing our rebuild to Fagans and The Lions, and he brought up the clichéd "Qld teams Carlton coach killers' gag but what I would say is Niall does seem to have good contacts with insiders at the club, my interpretation of the article was that a loss today (unless is it's a close one) would make it pretty difficult for Bolton to retain his job after this season.

Now, I don't agree with that at all, but I am concerned that is the first piece I have seen from an AFL heavy hitter (journo) that Bolton's job may be in jeopardy.

Also it did contain a quote from well intentioned but grumpy meddler Mark Maclure, so maybe it shouldn't be taken that seriously, but geez, the boys have to put in a good showing today or the doo doo may well hit the fan.

It's just another game. The club won't be making decisions about a coach they've invested in for three years to then make a short-sighted decision pushed on them by journalists.

The thing that everyone seems to forget about this rebuild is that the closest comparison for us is GC or GWS in their first four seasons. This was a ground zero rebuild. We had no exisiting talent on the list, outside of Murphy, Gibbs, Kruezer, and Curnow. It's not like Collingwood, who take a slight dip down the ladder, load up, then climb again. It's not like Sydney, who rarely ever dip at all. This is the full thing. We started a list from scratch three years ago. What choice did we have? The previous administration had been utterly inept.

The club knows that. The supporters know that. It's the main reason why no is seriously agitating for Bolton to go. Unless you're completely blind, you can see that there is still a lot of work to do. Bolton is as good a man as any to take the task on.
