I thought Hazza did well last nite with OTC. I love his wry humour, and he said a few things that reminded me to sometimes appreciate the players perspective. I'm glad they are learning to frame things in a positive learning kind of way. A fair bit is in their control, yes, but a fair bit isn't too, like team quality and coherence.
Now that I've dropped all expectation from this year, feels a whole lot better.
I don't see any more wins for h/a.
If we make a final still, it will be good for experience and that's about it.
Just had to step back and see a bigger picture. It bloody hurt after waiting so long and then expectations raised...but we look good for 2023 and beyond.

Good to see the club are trotting out the "Happy with Mediocrity" line.....
Finals this year was always the plan according to our President Luke Sayers.

Sayers cited "sustained and uncompromising high performance" as the club's primary focus going forward, and announced that: "Our expectation based on the list that we have is we are looking to make finals in 2022."

Anything less than finals this year is a fail considering where we were after Round 10, sitting 8-2 and inside the Top 4. Even with the injuries we had, we still managed to win games, but then when the season is on the line we lose very winnable games against teams like Adelaide. And then for the club to come out and now say that this season is a success even if we miss finals......it shows that nothing has really changed and we're still happy with mediocrity.

There is no shame in saying we stuffed up if we miss finals...own it!

I'm not sure saying we stuffed up is a sound idea, however saying we're disappointing we fell short is fine.

There are some fairly exceptional circumstances. Even though no one likes to use it as an excuse or use it as an out but we have had substantial injuries. All the way through pre-season and into the season the injuries we've had have been outrageous. If we didn't have the injury list we did we probably are in the race for top 4 but instead we're just holding on.

Granted that doesn't excuse games like Adelaide as that was clearly effort, but it's no doubt effected out season.

Yeah, saying we stuffed up wouldn't be the right words, my point is more owning that our expectations for 2022 is finals (from our Presidents mouth) and that yes we have fallen short if we fail to make it, given we had such a great start to the year, and rather than washing it as a successful year anyway, just own it and move on.

Totally agree re: injuries etc.

Not that it should worry me (sticks and stones and all that) but I happened to be listening to SEN whilst taking my lunchtime walk and the vitriol, bile that opposition (mainly Collingwood) supporters and the pleasure they took in our current predicament was absolutely breathtaking- really want to beat these campaigners in Round 23 and in the finals as well.

I don’t know why they hate us. I have fond memories of Collingwood from my childhood. 1979 and 1981 in particular.

I even enjoyed them putting away the Bombers in 1990.

Their time will come.

let not kid ourselves, if they were in the same position as us, most of our supporters would be digging the boots in too.

The players say they want it...
But when things get hard... Don't think, deep down they really do want it...

Seems, they are happy being comfortable...

It's a better year than last year, wins and team wise...
But missing the 8 is a fail to what we set to achieve, we would have missed our goal, any way you spin it...

We still have 2 weeks to win the game we need, let's see what they are made of...
I don’t agree with this at all. They want it. They’re not sure they’re good enough.
