And in fairness, there's historical context for why many of them are weary, although this is a more prevalent phenomena in the US, and there's been some First Nations activitst groups in Australia that have done a great job to give vaccine access and provide a welcoming environment.

Regardless, a number of people in this thread are missing the point. They're right that people are scared, but not for their own safety despite being vaccinated, for the safety of their parents, grandparents, and other vulnerable friends and relatives. My grandparents are both vaccinated, but if they caught the virus because some flog thought they were more educated on this topic than scientists and doctors, I would be ******* furious.

Am I scared about catching the virus myself? fu** no. But do I have friends and relatives I'm scared about catching the virus? You ******* bet I am.

Or that it's fine to be vaccinated and recover from COVID, but unconscionable to recover from it any other way and remain unvaccinated by choice.

I actually did get sick from the first jab. Heart palpitations, chest tightness, etc. Very stressful at the time. Sadly I didn't have a "plan b" because I didn't think "plan a- get jabbed" would end up with me strapped up to some funny machines in a laboratory. But I was wrong, so I had to wing it.

Long story short, I spent a week off work, ate really nice take-away food, cut back on the weed I was smoking, and basically just lied in bed watching footy and hanging shit on people on the internet. I was a little sore but it was a pretty good week tbh.

Had no problems with the second jab so I guess the take-away is stop being a ****in' pussy and get vaccinated.

Yes, personally I’d prefer more than 4-billion people to have had the vaccination across an 11-month period without any noticeable side effects in 99.9999% of them before I was comfortable with it. I mean c’mon, 4-billion isn’t exactly a decent sample size. I’m waiting for 6-billion people and not a single person less before I’m trusting a vaccine that has saved literally millions of lives.
