I’m not doubting this stat at all but I reckon the risk of dying would be significantly less in 18-35 year old fit and healthy athletes.

The risk of dying to COVID is less the younger and healthier you are. However this risk is still greater than the vaccine which has very low deaths/serious side effects.

The other thing with COVID is it can have severe side effects not including death. Lung, heart, brain and kidney damage have all been observed post COVID.

Even lesser known syndromes like POTS has been cropping up a lot due to COVID. And as someone who lives with POTS that came from a cold. You don’t want to gamble with COVID. And I fell under the healthy category.

As is pointed out in the piece below early low vaccination rates among non whites in the US have mostly caught up, whist Republicans are vastly more likely to be unvaccinated than Democrats.

Vaccines (introduced 11 Jan 2021) have helped lower the death rate and hospitalisations. But as you can see, calculating the death rate based on the same way they advertise it 'deaths for ANY reason within 28 days of a positive test' gives you a current approximate death rate as of 3 Nov of 1.742 per 1,000

Considering testing is not/was not widely available early on, those with no/mild symptoms would most likely not have been tested (under recorded), however all severe cases (hospitalisations) and death stats were recorded which will skew the death rate higher. Estimates vary, but it also seems like 20-50% of people are asymptomatic.
