Carlton player Liam Jones refusing vax - Update: Jones retires from AFL

Why aren’t the vaccines mandated in the AFL now? What has changed? Surprised more players haven’t dropped dead on the field to be honest.
No players have dropped dead on the field - let alone due to vaccination.

"More players"?

Which AFL players have dropped dead on the field so far.
Who, anywhere, has dropped dead from the vax?

But, going forward, how will covid be dealt with, if it’s likely to become like flu in that new variants will keep appearing (only worse than flu), and yet vaccination isn’t compulsory?

It's really not that hard to figure out. Even you guys should be able to get your collective IQs around some fairly straight forward statistics.

1) Take monthly mortality from 2015-2019.
2) Compare that to monthly mortality in 2021 and 2022.
3) Contact a good friend in life insurance or govt if you have one, might be quicker to get said statistics.
4) Calculate percentage increase.

Why don't you provide us with the data yourself, then, since you're so certain it shows what you claim it to show.

How do you think your implicit argument would stack up using US data?

Would the difference between the two maybe support Australia's stricter vax and lockdown policies? Maybe?

The anti-viral therapies will continue to be developed and get better and availability will increase.

Vulnerable will be offered a yearly shot like the flu.

Have you read the NSW government vaccine surveillance reports lately, like one out of the last 6 months? Nope, didn't think so.

If you are going to grandstand about elective medical procedures, it might be worthwhile staying up to date with Australian government data in these spaces before you lose your mind at others exercising their right to read said reports and make decisions with this in mind.

The report week ending July 30 would make for VERY interesting reading for a person of your personal position.

And here we have the new village idiot folks.

As the old adage goes, a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing.

Sure, just wondered if the AFL would have any requirements.

Unfortunately metaphors for your life don't trump data. Mightn't be wise to announce yourself as the new idiot.

You back-pedalled last time I asked for a summary.

I think you're full of sh!t, but you can easily prove me wrong on that by posting and summarising the data that you feel is so compelling, because you're obviously of the superior IQ that can do such exercise easily.

Now, don't disappoint us by back-pedalling yet again. Only a new village idiot would do that.

If I'd just participated in a clinical trial, I'd be getting my hands on every scrap of information I could find. You can find it yourself, it isn't THAT hard.

Dementia is up 20.5 percent. Exogenous factor? Probably.

There were 75,593 registered deaths in 2022 by July 31, a 16.1 percent INCREASE on the historical average. Over a 1.5 sigma year ffs.

I'll refrain from posting everything incase you carry on like even more of a pork chop. Ignorance is bliss I guess 🤣

So, a cursory glance shows that deaths are up 16.6% on the historical average to end of May (31 July is not the correct time frame, it's essentially the census date). However, over 40% of the increase was covid deaths.

If you look at the table headed "Doctor certified deaths by cause, May 2022", you'll find that most other causes of death are not significantly different from their baseline average (diabetes, cancer and dementia the highest % increase).

What is the actual point you are making? Even if you have one, you're really crap at explaining it.

There's no smoking gun in these stats.

Incredible that is how you see it.

Are we supposed to be shocked that deaths are up during a pandemic? But vaccines are to blame?

IIRC, his partner is one of those hippy-dippy Natural Health "my body is a pure temple than shouldn't be defiled" types.
Flying to interstate games, he'd be exposed to more solar radiation than the average person.

Didn't see him taking the bus.

It wasnt medical, so it falls in the "stupid/ignorant" basket.

thanks. i could see the responses to his assumed stance without confirming it while there were a few insults flying around.

play on!

Back to the Bulldogs for the little coward:

Liam Jones statement

Liam Jones has nominated the Western Bulldogs as his preferred playing destination for the 2023 season.

After sitting out the 2022 AFL season, Jones was classified by the League as an Unrestricted Free Agent, allowing him to automatically move to the Club of his choice.

The Bulldogs will work with Jones and his management to facilitate a move within the trade and free agency period.

Jones made his debut for the Bulldogs in 2010, playing 66 games in the red, white and blue before moving to Carlton, where he played a further 95 games over seven seasons.
