This could be a critical game for both teams, Essendon will start favorite, but Carlton have a great record against Essendon.

Carlton need Fevola and Whitnall to fire, for this would lift the likes of Stevens, Murphy and Gibbs in the midfield, the biggest problem facing Carlton is how to combat the speed of Daveys, Lovett and Jetta as well as Windleich, this game will be a free flowing game which will favor Essendon's speed, another worry for Carlton will be Hirdy is due for a big game, and with the big forwards of Lloyd and Lucus combining nicely I feel it could be a dirty night for Carlton.

This game will really come down to the rucks. Cloke and Ackland did pretty well against Hille and Laycock in the NAB cup, and if they can repeat this the we will do well enough to make a close game of it.
