I know I'm being Captain Obvious here but... if SOS is able to land Shiel, McGovern, Setterfield & Walsh... he probably deserves a trophy. If he can some how get Brodie on top of all that.... he probably deserves a statue.

Byrne Weitering Rowe

Docherty Marchbank Simpson

Brodie Cripps Fisher

McGovern Curnow Walsh

Murphy McKay Setterfield

R: Kreuzer Shiel Dow

INT: SPS, Kennedy, E.Curnow, Pickett
Notable Omissions: LOB, Thomas, Williamson, MacCreadie, Jones

Buckenara's annual stab at the Top 30 at this stage. I must say i really like it. Mine is quite similar so if i go down in a stack of flames this year, i've got Bucky for company.

My main differences are i've got Jones, O'Halloran, Collier-Dawkins and Caldwell a bit higher. And Thomas, West, Hately, Foley, English and Butters a bit lower.
Those player comparisons are horrendous, struggle to agree with any of them.

I don't know why people get hung up on player comparisons.

Every person sees different things and while some people are thinking about some parts of a players makeup, others are thinking of other parts.

I have seen Lukosius being compared to everthing from Nick Riewoldt to Justin Westhoff to Tom Lynch to Jarrad Waite to Jack Gunstan to Jack Watts.

I've heard Sam Walsh being compared to Joel Selwood by Dangerfield and now Buckenara. To me he doesn't play like Selwood that much but if they are talking about his drive, professionalism and competitiveness, then it might be spot on.

To me, i take comparisons with a grain of salt. We all use them but what we are trying to project often gets lost on other people.

A player comparison should be for how the player “plays” and it shouldn’t have anything to do with outside things and it should mostly be used for the players standout trait. When someone says a Selwood comparison the brain insantly thinks “in and under”. Walsh can win his own ball but I wouldn’t say he is a player the relishes in it, the Josh Kelly comparison will always be my favourite bit even then it’s not perfect.

Player comparisons shit me and are mostly used to give an idea to those who don’t watch the kids often. I’d rather use something like “player traits” and then name that exact trait.

A recruiter once said, that if a draftee, didn't remind you of a player, they probably weren't going to make it.

Although, many of the comparisons are strange

This is how I currently see the first 2 rounds, in terms of rating players, not so much as being drafted. Sure that will change slightly

Can’t remember if it was on here or Twitter, but does anyone have a link to the stats relating to % chance of drafting a 150/200 game player with each draft pick?
E.g pick 1 - 80%
Pick 2 - 77%
....
Pick 13 - 23%
....
Pick 50 - 2.3%
Thanks

Stephenson was being talked about constantly last year. Was hardly a bolter. He slid if anything due to knocks on his disposal and also his heart issue

I wasn't saying Stevenson was a bolter last year, just that I meant "shifter" Sheehan is a good judge of quality young players, ie, he picked Stevo to go #1 in the draft last year, and he's turned out to win the Rising Star. He has now come out and says after 3 games for The Stingrays there is a real late draft bolter (Sam Sturt). I hope SOS has looked at him or even knows about him.

He was coached by Teague for 1-2 years what other key people are you talking about?

Adelaide will trade for the best deal and Freo will have a better hand than us, he wants out and has a chance to go back home. Even if (and I haven't heard him say it himself) he wants to come to us the Neale trade is going to hold us back and make Adelaide asking for overs more likely to happen.

McGovern obviously has a great rapport with Teague. Teague is the key to him wanting to come to us. Teague will turn him into a 250 games A1 grade player for us. I just hope there are no hiccups in the trade, in that the Crows want too much.
