I would also trade for many possible scenarios, including other teams next years first, all of GC'c picks, etc.

Just because another club doesn't care for my ridiculous proposals though, doesn't count for taking the #1 to the draft as a 'fallback' Surely. :)

Not all trade scenarios are ridiculous, but I will concede some of the examples I have seen are asylum like.

I have already stated that I would trade pick 1, for a bare minimum of pick 2 and 24, (any other resonable scenario that is not heavily bias in our favour should also be considered) whether you or anyone else agrees, is not my concern. SO, for me, having pick 1 alone is a fallback position

If no deal has been offered for pick 1, fair enough, but given the rumours, here and other sources, it is still in play

Arrow I am not shifting the goal posts, you are clearly misunderstanding what I am saying.

Yes I wanted an example of a trade with a swap of future picks and yes I am saying I would remove the future picks from the swap you suggest but not to move the goal posts but simply because I don't see the value in including them in that trade.

You say "Removing the future picks in the scenario I posted, adds further bias in our favour." but that is only true if you think the lions are going to finish significantly higher than us in 2019. My point is that I don't see that happening. I see the two clubs finishing pretty close together but, given the nature of both teams lists, the results of both teams in 2019 are highly volatile and so it is impossible to say which team would benefit from the inclusion of the first round picks in the exchange,

So to summarise, I am not shifting the goal posts just stating I don't think the trade you suggest would happen.

PS perhaps you should go back and calmly re-read what I said in all my responses regarding this before responding

Macca, I don't need to go back, I am very clear as to the interaction, and extremely calm.

You are using your opinion only, as to the thought process of clubs and their strategies. GC may believe that we will finish 2nd last while predicting the Lions may finish 12th (both are possible). Even if the difference is 2-3 picks, can you see how that has impacted trade scenarios suggested in here, for this year? The difference between having pick 5 rather than 7 or 8? The quality of talent could be different

Anyway, I don't want another endless, circular interaction

Cheers

No
You're overhyping his forward play and down playing his ability through the middle.
It's no wonder he looks more comfortable forward of centre given it's where he's played most of his footy but the ability to throw his big body into the guts will be beneficial from time to time.
No. I am not.

Yes finally, we got there!!!!

Yes I am using my opinion, that is what we are here for right.

"GC may believe that we will finish 2nd last while predicting the Lions may finish 12th (both are possible)." Then Suns may believe that, but it is also possible that the Lions will finish 2nd last and we will finish 12th, it is also possible (and I would suggest more likely) we finish much closer but still no less certain who will be higher. As you say "The difference between having pick 5 rather than 7 or 8? The quality of talent could be different" but you have to be confident in which way that switch is going to play out.

IMO all the risks involved around the uncertainty of how the two teams are going to perform and the likelihood that the trade backfires outweighs the probable benefits of a 1 or two spot gain, which makes the chances of your suggested trade being done unlikely and it becoming more likely to be done if the two future picks are removed.

Macca, I am no longer interested

Beat me to it, Arrow.

Macca43 - starting to feel like discussions with you on trade strategy just get stuck in a perpetual loop of "What do you think", "I disagree, here's what I think, what do you think of that", "I disagree, here's what I think..."

Have backed him in from day dot and think he’s the custodian of that small forward pressure role until someone pries it off him. Which may never happen.
Exactly is the best pressure small forward we have by a country mile never stops chasing, and eventually the goals will come as well, as they did in the last couple of games. Bolton loves his pressure and chase and will keep backing him in and so he should the kid works his arse off to get better.

The thing is the loop was only "here is what I think" and no "what do you think".

If you go back I asked Arrow for a possible trade, it then took 3 responses before he suggested 1.

Having suggested it I moved the discussion on by stating why I thought the trade wouldn't happen in the hope I would get Arrow's opinion on why he thought it would, to which Arrow wrongly claimed I thought the Lions would have to be involved, I corrected him and restated my position and suggested the trade would work better without the future picks, to which Arrow the incorrectly accused me of shifting the goal posts, to which I then had to re-explain my position.

I was only after all that that we got to actually discussing my point.

Even though we most likely are involved for a short time in this weeks draft.... will be an interesting watch with the "live trading". Although dragging it out for 2 days is a bit much. Very excited to see BSOS in a Blue's guernsey though!

I am not convinced the blues would give up 1 for 2 & 24 (maybe 2 & 19) but it is possible. We will see soon enough.

Is this possible, can you trade players? if so
pick 1, a future first round & McKay to GC for picks 2, 3 & 6
Then trading:
  • pick 2 with Port for 5 and 10 & next years first round
  • pick 3 with Crows for 8 and 16 & next years first round
this will give us picks 5, 6, 8, 10 & 16 (2 first for next year)

pick 5 - M King (replacement for Mckay - better forward)
Pick 6 - B King (replacement for S Rowe)
Pick 8 - J Caldwell (to help Dow)
Pick 10 - R Collier-Dawkins (to help Cripps)
Pick 16 - L Stocker (a Beast)
Pick 69 - BSOS
pick 71 - a SOS late pick special
Rockie - W Hickmott (a hard nut like his old man)

You can't trade players now, but even if we could, why on earth would we trade Harry?

Showed some terrific signs last year and at 20 has a huge future ahead of him, we'd be mad to move him on now.
