Glad we didn't, Henry Walsh sounds like he needs 4 years of development
...But he's a ruckman and that's not unusual. in 4 years he could really get his body in peak condition and be ripe to go at 22/23.

Anyone know what happened regarding our 'promise' to Henry Walsh?
Obviously we never picked him up, but considering the alleged commitment, he (and Sam) would be a tiny bit P!ssed off I'd think?
I doubt a promise was ever made, at most the club would have said that they may have some interest late.
The risk of putting Sam's nose out of joint coupled with uncertainty around the availability of more talented prospects at our picks would see any guarantees offered as being foolish.
Henry Walsh is an old fashioned ruckman that doesn't offer a significant impact around the ground or ability forward, this type of player generally isn't in high demand these days so it shouldn't come as a surprise that a reasonably raw version was passed over - particularly after what could be considered a missed year.
If he's inclined he'll land at a state league club where he can continue his development.

In particular
Stocker Dow McGovern Cunningham O’Brien Kennedy need to take the next 2 months and throw everything they have into preparing and training their bodies to the point of exhaustion sitting down with the coaching staff and tailoring a training regime to suit the individual this will show Teague they want it ,if they don’t then their careers could be over by the end of 21

Just possibly there was no promise? Sometimes things on here are made up. Got another fact that might upset you about santa bit I'll hold off telling you till december 26.

No, I don’t want to know. Santa is reliable and will deliver me something great again this year, just like he has the other 50 years

More talent in other areas looks like what it comes down.

Blues allocated region for academy
Isn't it pretty much scrapped from next year though ? Or am I imagining things ?

Looks like we took armchair drafting to another level. Watch the news and draft order set...

Dont think it was quite that simplistic .... maybe ....

It better be silver & gold with 2 handles and my club's name on it......

Just need to follow the examples of JSOS in 2019 and Setters in 2020 both put in big pre seasons and both ended up having good years it’s not brain surgery if you put in the work you get the benefit.

I thought pushing pain thresholds, developing a will to win was old school and team meetings, mindfulness, floatation tanks and video analysis were the contemporary keys to modern player development

Rookie spot couldnt have hurt. With Kreuzer's guidance and being in our seconds for development he couldve gone a long way. Oh well...

If he ends up landing at Carlton's VFL side, there's little doubt that he'll still be under Kruez's tutelage, with a view of potentially bringing him in through the mid season draft if he shows signs of progression.

At the end of the day, it was bloody hard this year to go for a speculative pick with little exposed form.....which is probably one of the reasons why we didn't go for any Vic based kids in the draft.

Nothing wrong with old school societies gone backwards too far

Just because the "promise" got a run on BF doesn't mean there was any such thing.
wouldn't worry about it.

With Pick 17, Collingwood have selected Oliver Henry, and have immediately traded him to North Melbourne for Pick 55 and paying half his salary. Ned Guy taps his nose knowingly. Buckley says nobody at Collingwood likes him.

Dude, surely you have a sense of humour? I mean, you'd have to.

We promised Henry Walsh a spot.

But when Sam realised how badly we needed ruck support, he decided to work on his height and came back to pre-season training 15cm taller.

Pretty sure...

Good preseasons will definitely help, but I also think in the case of McGovern, Cunners and even Dow that part of the issue is above the shoulders....maybe some brain training would help.

Sounds like we need some kind of pre-season camp to toughen their minds... collectively...

What could possibly go wrong?

:p
