VFL Casey 2026 thread

Thats a significant list turnover. Surprised by a couple of the outs.
Aside from Laurie and Campbell that’s pretty much all the “Not good enough for AFL, but very good for VFL” players gone from both the Melbourne and Casey lists.

Plenty of times in 2025 the entire midfield rotations at Casey were Laurie, Hardie, Woewodin, Brown, Billings, Culley and Baldi so it will be a really different look in 2026.

If Melbourne has a poor year with injury as is looking likely I can see Casey being in for some torrid games with that loss of depth.

Old mate Coach Cam did a pretty comprehensive write up of the Casey lineup for this year if anyone is interested.

That was quite a good read, better than half the trash I read on AFL website, fair dinkum list turnover but I like the idea that we might unearth a couple of gems.

We have some young kids who will have played with a lot of them too which might just help if they have to cut their teeth at Casey for a while. I can see a few of our veteran players spending some time in Casey this year and more next year which will give them some of the protection they will need.

Ah-Mu looked quite imposing in the Melbourne intra today.

There was a shorter forward who did a few nice things that I assume was a Casey listed player also.

Most of the other Casey top up players looked a bit out of their depth against the AFL guys but you’d expect that.

I hope we're tracking Ah-Mu's progress throughout the year at casey. There's something to work with there if we consider listing him further down the road

You're thinking of Paddy Cross who kicked 3 goals today.

Last year I thought Cross has a bit of X-factor in that he doesn’t look like much but seemed to be able to make something happen in the forward line. And I didn’t even recognise him today!

Thanks for identifying him.
