Yes, but you are a Hawks supporter. Your list is rubbish.

Geelong had midfielders like Moloney in spades. He would not be in our top 5.
I'm more than happy for them to take a punt on Ottens as a forward / change ruckman.

Doesn't say much for the cats proformance then! But whatevet it is with the cats you can have a list full of talent, but if they don't have structure and work as a team you ain't going to get far. It seems it really is a far cry form your form and structure of 04.

Boom recruit Brad Ottens was disappointing in attack and forward Kent Kingsley had a dirty day, leaving Thompson with headaches.

Ottens missed a shot at goal from 20m directly in front in the first term and sprayed another kick out on the full from 45m in the second.

One positive in attack for the Cats was Henry Playfair, who took five marks at centre half-forward and kicked three goals in the first half before heading to defence.

Hawthorn kicked the last five goals of the contest and was deep in attack when the siren confirmed a 15.13 (103) to 15.7 (97) scoreline.

I was at the game last night, and I don't think this story gives a completely accurate impression. We were well ahead at three quarter time, and you could feel that there was no way we were going to lose. In the last quartet, Thompson rested some players and played others out of position - classic pre-season experiomentation. Instead of Ling, Kelly and Bartel at the centre bounces, we had Byrnes, Milburn and Kouloriotis (sp?). Jarrad Rooke played up forward, Tenace (who had racked up touches at will) was rested, as was Kelly. When not on the ball, Milburn played forward and Henry Playfair (who had been presenting pretty well at CHF) went back. Basically, the team was barely recognisable form the first three quarters when we did what you would expect - eased away from a very average team, progressively widening the gap on the score board.

The article also omits some of the positives I saw:
1) Mark Blake played most of the game in the ruck, and looks very capable - still skinny, but looks like he belongs.
2) Corey Enright - got a bit of the ball, looked a little more composed than I remembered.
3) Paul Chapman - got into the game in the second half, and looked like the Chappy of old (crumbing, snapping for goal, tackling hard in the forward line)
4) Brenton Sanderson, Steven King, Joel Corey, Gary Ablett, Steve Johnson - all missed the game, which leaves room for improvement.

I am a little concerned about our form, and Ottens is not the answer to all our prayers (prayers that, might I add, are being put into our mouths by supporters of other teams), but it is early March. We need to improve or the season will quickly leave us behind, I don't deny that, but I see things starting to come together.

Look at who remained in the Wizard Cup before last night, and you will quickly realise that those of use playing scratch matches at country grounds don't need to hang our heads in shame quite yet.

Bulldogs - Not a top side
Kangaroos - 6-12 side
Carlton - 6-12 side
West Coast - Potentially a very good side, who need to learn to win on the road if they are to fulfil their potential. Winning at Subi is like us winning at Kardinia Park - 4 points, but not conclusive.

Yes just like I was scared to come back when I was telling Dockers supporters last year how overrated their team was when they were sitting 4th half way through last year and the Eagles were on 5 wins from 13 games. Just like I told the Dockers then that we would finish above them.... I am telling you now.

So... another new nick Linga_is no_one?

I can hear the chest beating from here, or is that another kind of beating....

Your credibility is now established with me. Anyway you missed the point, its easy to come back and say I told you so when you're right, lets see you do it when you're wrong.

What rubbish

You Cats supporters all say that

I have seen a lot of Moloney the last month or so. He has dominated the last 2 games, and he is looking special

He would be well and truly in Geelongs top 5 midfielders. SOmetimes you have to take it on the chin when you know your team stuffed up by giving away a gem

It's nothing against Moloney, but Longbomb is right.
Good luck to him.

They live in their own little world down the Princess. Its a lot easier to pretend it never happened or that they weren't in the top class then accept they have made a mistake. :D

I really rate Beamer and Geelong will miss him. But Ling, Kelly, Bartel, Corey, Ablett & probably Tenace all would get a run before him.

Its really give and take, Ling, Kelly and Bartel are the standouts, obviously Ablett can play a bit, is he more a FP or is he now a regular on baller? (don't watch that many cat games).

I would think on current form Beamer would make your best 22, depending on the roles, really. Ling, Barlet and Kelly would be able to do the same job as Moloney. He is excellent value of a wing or flank, MFC play him onball and he is excelling so far.

Either or its all debateable but once again thank you, happy doing business with you. ;)

Just a couple of points

1. I seem to remmember Geelong and Melbourne being ranked as - "Not a top side" last year but there performances in the Wiz belied that fact so you shouldn't be writing of the performances of the doggies, Carlton and the Roos

2. Talking about not winning away is not exactly one of Geelongs strong points either, There performance against Port in last years away final as an example

Ohhhh what a beautiful moooooooooooooorning :D

I especially had to like this bit.

"If you looked at our form and the way we're playing, you wouldn't say we're a great side at the moment," Thompson said.

Well hello.... You don't have to be Einstein to work out Geelong were overrated and not as good as everyone thought....... actually come to think of it... apparantly you do have to be Einstein.... because I was the only person in here not gullible enough to think Geelong were instantly on their way to glory because of 1 flukey season with an easy draw. I think deep down Bomber Thompson knows they aren't that good as well.

Ahem. :)

Gotta love the title of this article. Sorry cat fans but you're slowly finding out that ottens is not the answer to your forward line problems. Ben Graham was a much better forward.
I'd rather Ottens over Troy Simmonds any day of the week. At least Ottens has potential.
