A few things have been particularly pleasing in the NAB CUP.

Key forwards kicking goals and taking marks; last year it poor to say the least but in the NAB Cup it has been nothing short of fantastic. Two 4 goal halls from Mooney and one form Ottens as well as two reasonable performances from Nathan Ablett. Good signs

Emerging players
; Blake, N.Ablett, Selwood, Djerkurra, Sam Hunt all seem capable of playing AFL footy this year if required.

Improvement from poor performing senior players (in 06); Gardiner, Kelly, Wojincski have all made strong cases for their inclusion Rd 1.

Attack off th Half Backline
; Big weakness in 06 but has been a feature of Geelongs footy in the NAB Cup.

I really don't think N. Ablett has done that well... Not sure about Kelly either.

Yeah, Nate wasn't really suited to the wet conditions but was better the week before. We have seen him play better, he needs to be more selfish with the ball. Maybe his confidence isn't so high or something?

while I think the boys look better than they did this time last year I still think it is a bit early to be making judgements. It's not like we have played what would be considered a top 8 team so far. Yesterdays game was hardly a skill fest and that only leaves a game against an undermanned richmond to draw conclusions from.

I think the safest thing to say is it looks promising so far and that's all.

Totally agree CF, until we play a team with real potential I'd rather just say we are fitting into the program, and we look determined to throw away last year.

Getting some gametime for the new Cats players is great though, and seeing how well they have adapted, that probably shows that we are definitely heading in the right direction.

Which is what CF has pointed out.

Well, doesn't look like thats gonna happen til round 1;)

It is not about the results in NAB games. Who really cares. I am more looking at it is the style and structure of play. As well as individual performances.

At the moment it looks like we have good structure across the feild. I can't see an area where we are weak at the moment. We have a good mix of KPP and smalls across the feild which I think is very good.

Our forwardline looks fantastic. Perhaps it will prove to not have enough talent but structurally it looks great. Ottons & Mooney holding down the focal points with Gardiner, N.Ablett & potentially Hawkins playing for the 3rd tall position. Stokes & Byrnes having a good battle for the small crumber and Chapman to come in. On paper and in the NAB cup it seems to work.

Blake and King seem to be capable of holding their own against most ruck division (Port Adelaide) and beating the weak one (Richmond).

For the first time I feel confidence in having enough run out of the backline with Harley, Selwood, Wojincski, S.Hunt, J.Hunt and Enright all offering attack.

It all looks good so far.

True - to a point. I can't think of it as anything but a positive that they've had 2 good wins. With any of King, Ottens, Wocjinski, Ling, Rooke to come back I see no reason why we can't beat Brisbane in the semifinal. More prizemoney. More habitual winning.
