Oh I feel that, I used to have number 74 in my old Twitter handle as part of my personal brand, and my club wouldn't give me the number which totally hurt my ability to earn extra money.I think it is good that they don't want to allow much individual product placement. I remember when Brian Bosworth came out of college to the NFL. First he had a tantrum about not getting his college number which he had used for his trademark brand (his # not allowed at linebacker position IIRC). Then as a player, with diminishing abilities due to actual PED testing in the NFL, he constantly did things to hype himself and his product line up. This included calling out John Elway and promising to take him out in the upcoming game. He tried, but it didn't come off and he looked a fool too. In the end he didn't last long. If given the opportunity, the modern pro athlete will always find a way up his profile and sell merch.
When I asked them why they said things like "who even is this?" and "Oh its you? We cut you off the list 5 years ago."
Its an absolute sham.
