Darren Jarman, Paul Barnard and Brad Scott were all Hawks before moving on to the clubs where they forged their names.

Jarman was originally a Bear, no?

Also:

Chris Judd - West Coast > Carlton (at this stage, 2 years at Carlton is a short stint :p)

Daniel Bandy - Champion at Perth, brief stints at Freo and Footscray :p

Ross Glendinning Playing a couple of seasons as Eagles skipper after his decorated career at North would count wouldn't it?

Bruce 'The Prez' Lindner's another :D

Brad Hardie would prbably also count, his stint at the Dogs was short, then a half dozen seasons at the Bears, before a very short spell at the Pies.

greg williams, barry mitchell, mick martin, glenn hawker, corey mckernan, mick mcguane, earl spalding, ron barassi, nick stevens, brock mclean chris judd....

Nathan Bassett was originally on Melbourne's list.

Shannon Grant (Sydney, North Melbourne)
Anthony Rocca (Sydney, Collingwood)

I actually found an old newspaper (paper copy, not online) from the mid 90s which talked about the BATTLE OF THE ROCCAS in a pies vs swans game.

One I remember, mainly from watching the 2004 GF on ONE a few days ago was Josh Mahoney, who had a season each at the Dogs and the Pies and playing for the Power 5 years later.

A few others I can think of..

Matt Primus
Cam Mooney
Tom Harley
Nathan Eagleton

Shane O'Bree (Brisbane to Collingwood)
Darren Bennett (West Coast to Melbourne)
Jason Heatley (West Coast to St.Kilda)
Andy Lovell (Melbourne to West Coast)
Nick Daffy (Richmond to Sydney)

Scott Camporeale

Mick McGuane
Mick Martin
Michael Mansfield
Steven O'Rielly
Corey MacKernan (Although won a B&F)

why we picked up these duds i will never know

Ken Hinkley, Brad Sholl and Tim McGrath.

Lindsay White started his career with Geelong. Went to South Melbourne for two seasons during WWII because the Cats couldn't compete in those years, and then went back to Geelong when they rejoined the competition.

And didn't John Rantall drag himself through a season with the Roys just so he could get the games record?

Paul Salmon is an interesting one. He was a champ at Hawthorn and came out of retirement for a short stint at Essendon, but that was his second go with the Dons.

Fitzroy in the late 70s/early 80s collected quite a few stars in their twilight years.

Len Thompson, John Rantall, Max Richardson, Larry Donohue, John Cassin, Kevin Higgins and Robert Walls plus several other lesser-lights donned the red, blue and gold as their careers drew to a close.

Meanwhile club stalwarts like John Murphy and Warwick Irwin looked for greener pastures elsewhere.

I cannot believe in this whole thread no one has mentioned \......

Dermott Brereton.....

Hawks Champ 7 day 7 night grand finals!!!

Collingwood and Sydney!!! hahaha

They also fit into this criteria.

John Murphy had 2 seasons at South and 2 at North "(Or was it 3 at South, 1 at North?) after 10 at Fitzroy, While Warwick Irwin left for Collingwood in 1981, but by 1983, he was back on the Lions list for one final season.

150-game Eagle Mitchell White played a further 23 games at Kardinia Park.

Simon Beaumont finished his career at the Hawks after nine seasons in the navy blue.

Just a few that I can remember

FROM DOGS

- Bernie Quinlan (went to Fitzroy in 77)
- Barry Round (first game was Whitten's last, went to South/Sydney)
- Brian Wilson (victim of the infamous Royce Hart Flemington Time Trial, went to Melbourne then short stint at St.Kilda)
- George Bisset (2nd in a brownlow, long stint here before going to Collingwood)
- Simon Atkins (nearly 9 seasons at the Dogs coalface, then cleared to Fitzroy after Joyce got the coaching gig)
- Kelvin Templeton (flourished under Royce Hart, then did his knee in 82 before he could combine effectively with Simon Beasley. Cleared to Melbourne where he did SFA).
- Jim Edmond (captain in our 85 finals campaign, contract dispute saw him head north to Sydney for 86, then went to Brisbane in 87 where he clobbered Russell Morris at Carrara)

SHORT STINTS AT DOGS

- Already mentioned Nicky Winmar and Daniel Bandy
- Bernard Toohey (followed Hafey from Geelong to Sydney, won a goalkicking, had 2 years to finish at Dogs)
- Bruce Duperouzel (long at St.Kilda, few games for us in the 80's)
- Simon Minton-Connell (king of the Chest Mark, stints at Carlton where he was stuck behind Kernahan, Sydney where he did well and Hawthorn where he was insurance in case Dunstall broke down)
- James Cook (stuck behind Kernahan at Carlton, kicked 6 in THAT preliminary and missed 98 after trying to flatten Robert Scott in the Rd 22 epic against North, then went to Melbourne for a while)
- Terry Wallace (3 flags with Hawthorn, 1 dud year at Richmond in 87, then 3 effective years with us as a player)

Alan Ezard (hardly a champion, but compared to some of the people named in this thread...) was on Melbourne's books via zoning but after two training sessions we sold him to Essendon for $5k.

184 games and two flags later....

And one of the above list, Garry Baker played 20 games at Footscray and 127 at Melbourne including a B&F.

James Cook was unlucky with us. Kicked six in his second game, did his knee in his third.
