Dont think there will be any changes but batting order may reshuffle. Pending fitness of bowlers cause of short changeover. Test starts friday

Would love to see Bird in. Not sure it will happen though unless Harris doesn't pull up well and they're forced to make a change.

Wouldn't change the batting lineup that actually scored runs for the first time in living memory.

If Harris needs a rest then Bird comes in... if he is right then no change, though Id consider Starc out for Bird.

Open with Warner and have Watson down the order

Warner to open.

I'd drop Watson for Hughes, but that won't happen.

Keep that flog Hughes out

Never should have been dropped.

But, having been droppped, they now owe it to Hughes to give him a full Shield season with no Aus duty.

In: Bird
Out: Starc/Harris (Harris only if he doesnt pull up well)

Would have won 3rd test if not for the rain. Batsmen had a very good first inning with 3 main contributors (Clarke, Smith Rogers). Give the others another go as they really didnt do anything wrong.

Lyon was a little disappointing but got to give him a few tests. no point swapping and changing just for the sake of it.

Wouldn't mind seeing bird come in. Harris might be right to go as we didn't bowl alot of overs yesterday.

Bird in.

Either Starc or Lyon out depending on the pitch. If it's a seamer's delight, then tell Lyon we're backing him but the pitch isn't suited for him.

Heard a Test Match Special conversation where it was suggested that Lyon could be used more in the Ashley Giles mould to tie up an end, rather than being too attacking. He certainly needs to learn that art of bowling dry when the conditions don't suit and/or the match situation demands it.

We will never know, but Watson could have taken 4 crucial wickets yesterday to win us the game

That's where his value is, and why he will be afforded selection despite a long form slump with the bat

He needs to drop to 6 though, happy for him to open again when/ if his form turns around.

In: Agar & Bird Out: Lyon & Siddle/Harris (Rested - can't afford over working these 2)

1. Warner
2. Rogers
3. Kawaja
4. Clarke
5. Smith
6. Watson
7. Haddin
8. Agar
9. Starc
10. Siddle
11. Harris

Watson has the next 2 matches to save his career & as an all-rounder

Requirements for the next 2 matches

* Min 150 runs
* Bowl a minimum of 40 overs - at least 5 wickets with an Economy under 3.

Utterly unacceptable for Watson to be selected. Can't be selected on his bowling because he doesn't bowl enough and has admitted he doesn't want to. Can't be selected on his batting because we have 3 specialist bowlers (Pattinson, Starc, Harris) who have better batting averages than him over the past 2 years.

I see everyone is also persisting with Chris "turns 36 next month and averages 25" Rogers

Durham will swing more than Manchester:
  1. Warner
  2. Rogers
  3. Khawaja
  4. Clarke
  5. Smith
  6. Haddin
  7. Watson
  8. Siddle
  9. Harris
  10. Lyon
  11. Bird
Haddin in better batting form than Watson and more of a calm head if he has to bat with one of the younger batsmen. Also, some good responsibility for Watson to bat with the tail rather than being all about Shane.

Bird will swing it more than Starc and more accurately - still can't understand how the one bowler best suited to English conditions hasn't got a game.

Agar needs a full Shield season and a lot of work before he's a threatening bowler. He's a work in progress and Lyon needs to play ahead of him.

Interested to see if bird is any good. Put him in and give Harris or Siddle a rest..
I think give Lyon one more chance to show something next match. I don't think he bowled that poorly he was a little unlucky not to get a few wickets. Otherwise Agar comes back in for the 5th test
